Driving power cutting out...

Featured Replies

I've been having a problem with my VRS lately with the power cutting out. When the car is being driven fast and it is at maximum boost the car just seems to loose all power and basically goes into "safe mode" until the ignition is turned off and on again then all is fine one again. I have been told that it is a problem with the turbo not getting rid of all the boost. However I had replaced the black box on top of the driver side strut and that seemed to solve it for about two weeks.

Can anyone shed any light on this problem and how to solve it?

Many thanks,

John

I've had this problem a few time's as well although not often enough for me to think anything of it other that that I've maybe over done it! Be good to see what other's think It may be though If it is happening frequently with yourself.

First thing to do is scan for fault codes, even if you don't get an EML coming on.

Sounds like a boost deviation problem, which can be one of several things.

1: Boost leak

2: Sticking VNT in the turbo

3: N75 Valve (although you have replaced that)

4: VNT actuator vacuum leak

5: Boost control valve on intercooler

6: MAF

Easiest way to pin it down would be to log live data while booting the nuts off it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the car is currently with the mechanic and I have given him the list of what could be causing it.

So far the turbo, the n75 valve and the actuator have been ruled out. I will let you know what has caused it as soon as it has been found.

Thanks once again for the feedback.
