Featured Replies

Hi,my Monte Carlo arrives in the next coupla weeks.I have a few questions as Im a new member.Firstly, there is a Tdi badge on the back and its a dead give away for anyone guessing what car it is.So whats holding the badge on and if I pull it off is it liable to damage the paintwork? Has anyone tried this already?

Pretty certain the model and engine designation badging can be removed, only the skoda badge plugs into the bodywork.

There are many ways you can do it but all carry an element of risk of scratching the tailgate. A friend of mine who used to valet high end cars has done alot of debadging and his preferred method is to use a cloth and gradually lever the badges away from the bodywork with a flat blade screwdriver between the badge and the cloth. Tends to be quick and leave little or no sticker glue but one false move and you could be very upset indeed.

Otherwise some decent cotton thread or tooth floss and some patience will get it off. Afterwards a decent polishing of the area will remove any badge glue thats left behind. You would be very unlucky to damage the paintwork if you were careful.

I would use some dental floss to remove the badge and then some Tardis to remove the glue. Did this on my previous car

1. Blow dryer to heat up and slowly melt the adhesive - test every now and then to check whether the badge moves.

2. Dental floss behind the badge, move the line up and down and slowly make your way from one side to the other lifting the badge.

3. For any adhesive left on the car use automotive glue remover or wait for your next car wash.

Why not simply ask the dealer to remove for you....?

The tractor clatter under the bonnet won't give it away then?

I dont mind the badges on the back of my car tbh.. no ones going to look at it and go 'ooo whats that car there... looks very rare!' because its a Skoda Fabia lol...
