New Firby vRS running in time

Featured Replies

Yes it is time I have collected my new vRS and guess what It has been covered in snow since the day I collected it!

If I ever get the chance to go above 30mph has anyone got any idea of running in times? etc (If they are needed)

If it wascovered in snow when you got it......Is it the right colour?

I do believe the information you seek is contained within a fine publication known as the owner's handbook ;)

Some people just follow the instructions in the manual (not above 3000 rpm for first 600 miles, then don't thrash it before 1500 IIRC - you might want to check though; could be wrong). Others including myself have used the 'Honest John' technique. It's a bit more complicated, but is in the FAQs section on his website http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/faq.htm?id=32

Do a search of the forums to... Lots of usefull information on running in.

I followed the honest john method :)

HTH

Edit: also keep regular check on your oil

I have seen a hint of black under the snow!

Hah! the pesky hand book, should have probably thought of that myself!

I too followed the Honest John method and apart from a 1/2 litre top up i have used no oil whatsoever

Yeh Think I will go for the honest jonn method also

It seems to work OK without making driving too much of a chore while the mileage is still low - peak torque is under 3000 rpm on the PD engine anyway, so although you shouldn't thrash it to start with, you won't be holding up th traffic too much, either!

600 ml of oil is all it's used in nearly 6 months and 10000 miles
