I've just got my Mk6 Golf GTI side skirts from the dealer, 180 quid incl the vat which isn't bad.

Not fitted up properly yet, just held in place with some double-side carpet tape to see how they look.

Whats the view of the skoda massive then? Good, bad?

As the thread says, I'm not 100% yet myself - if the car came with them from the factory then it'd be a "yes" but the question mark i have is related to glueing plastic to my car that really doesn't give any dynamic benefit as far as I can see.

Opinions welcome, although I will probably just ignore you and make a decision after I've slept on it.

Fire away!

.. and yes, i know the car needs a clean :p

They look ok in the top pic from a distance  but close up they just look like two black strips of plastic stuck on

Not sure myself.

they dont impede in jacking up the car do they ?

Sorry this is my view, you hardly notice them in the pictures they are so small, I would have saved your 180 quid. :(

+1, hardly noticeable, and !* 180 quid, emperors new clothes! :giggle:

I agree with the comments above in that they're barely noticeable unfortunate.y

With so much white I think they look good, nice visual bridge between the dark wheels - might also make tar kicked up from road less noticable on the sills. Subtle but effective.

I quite like them, but not for the price, as mentioned, a lot of money for not a lot of plastic. But you do what feels good matey

Subtle, like em, but think it would depend how obvious the lip is irl, might look a little too stuck on, rather than oem.

Not fussy on them rob, doesn't make enough of a difference for me to justify the £180.

ok, i can see a trend forming here.. lol.

@550 Vrs - no they don't impede jacking in any way, they are nowhere near the jacking points.

re the "hardly noticable" comments, yep that's exactly what i was looking for - subtle and probably not noticed by anyone other than a skoda geek!

Here's the thing - i've pulled them off now after i took the photos for this thread, and the sill looks really dull, empty and bland without - like there's something missing..

:wonder:

I felt exactly the same when I took my red grille off - haven't regretted it though

I think they look really good!

Very subtle, but it gives the car a nice profile. Not sure I'd be spending £180 on them though

Cheers Harry. Having considered these for a few days I've decided I WILL be fitting them properly - just need to get the right adhesive and get the car clean (!) then they can go on.

;)

Late to the party, but I echo the views of Harry really. I think they look good, but they offer less visual appeal/improvement than I thought they would. They certainly don't make the car look worse, and like you say - if they were there as standard you wouldn't think twice about them.

It's the financial outlay vs. reward that I don't think is that great.

I think they are a little 'on their own' looking, meaning I think they would look better if you could match them up with some kind of front and rear bumper spoilers to match....

I think they look OK.

If the paint was smooth there you could possible vinyl wrap it for alot less.

Skoda do a rear diffuser that would go well with those side skirts

I like those side skirts on your car - work very well on a white car

i dunno, you could have washed your car before you took the pics rob! ;)

I like them but im not sure i like them as much as £180. If they were £100 id probably go and buy some

Hmmm its a tricky one, a little too small and kind-of make it look like a scout, as they look more like scuff plates than skirts, what about mk5 skirts?

yeah, i looked at the mk5 skirts, they are much cheaper (like 30 quid a side) but I prefer the look of these. i think with the mk5 skirt its pretty big, and "obvious" where these are more subtle, like they could easily have been OE fitment..

I didn't think the diffuser fitted on the vrs bumper?

@daz_pd: yeah, i know what you mean - when I've got these on I may look at the cupra splitter for the front, but it may take the front a bit too low.. :S

@ Rob, lovely subtle mod' but 180 sheets...... :o

The rear diffuser dosn't fit the vRS .. I find it odd that Skoda produce a rear diffuser for a 'standard Octy'

and not one for the vRS when this 'styling' addition is synonomous with more sporty derivitives of car models.
