Mk4 R32 334mm twinpot front brakes, with mk4 golf rear brakes(cant remember the size but they were substantially bigger). Dont want it to look anything other than oem. Ive got the stage 2 performance with practically no change in exhaust volume, i dont want anyone to know its mapped. I like stealth cars that catch people out :giggle:

Do you really need bigger brakes in the back? Had a friend who drove MK1 Fabia vRS with approx 240 bhp/500+ nm and he didn't find any use off bigger brakes in the rear on the track or on the road.

I know they are ridiculosly small, but I recon that it's enough anyways =).

Agree to the stealth-car thing tho, always fun to shock people that should be in another league :p!

You not considered the LCR 323mm brembos for the front? they look amazing  I heard that R32 calipers are very heavy

What did your insurance company charge you for these modifications?

After seeing the Pic of your Dirty engine bay i noticed you dont have the front rubber gasket over there in the UK wich was on the first few German VRS`s

no we dont, mine hasn't anyway!

Sounds good. I get how the less unsprung weight is good but with lighter wheels is there more of a chance for buckling them? Our roads aren't exactly brilliant and no matter how careful we can be with avoiding potholes we can still catch a few. I know of R8's (I realise it's a much bigger wheel) that have had buckled alloys replaced. No idea how much they weigh though.

@ ADLav- this is the monte 2 piece carlo grill. £67 incl Vat from the stealership.

is that from sherlodge or beadles Sy?? ive been waiting for a call from sherlodge about a price for the black grill for over a week!

I believe so. The Limited Edition Octy vRS's had lighter wheels which have had a lot of problems with buckling. BMW replace hundreds of 18/19" wheels each year because they crack on our poor roads. :(

Most people forget (ad and marketing people!) that the tyre is the primary "shock absorber" and for a good ride and to protect the rim a profile of 45% to 50% is the minimum that is required.

As for good light weight wheels...go for Team dynamics "Pro Race" series or if you have lots of money OZ HLT series or how about Speedline Corse series??? All of these are race spec wheels which are light and very strong!!! I have TD Pro Race 3's and they are good! B)

it would equate to an increase of around £120 over the full year but i have paid less as my insurance is due for renewal in septemeber. Just basing it off of compare the market quotes im looking at savings of around £90 on the next premium for renewal and thats without bartering.

This is based on a 20-30hp gain (if i fit the cooler ill need to increase this margin) and covers the intake, map, suspension and brakes for when i fit them. the only issue is worth flux they wont replace modded parts like for like. will shop around for someone who does in septemeber though

Are you totally sure?

You might be hit with a 30% increase in STANDARD insurance after renewal like most have this year
