vRS v Polo 9n3 GTi

Featured Replies

Had the vRS for almost two years now and tempted to change for the sake of a change (probably a good enough reason not to!).

Nice little red Polo GTi up for sale at a trader, which I quite fancy. However, the Fabia hasn't given me any grief and runs superbly (now on 77k) - the Polo has 62k and it's a bit of risk trading in a sound car for one that might possibly give me problems.

Anyone on here had / driven a 9n3 GTi?

I would keep the Fabia, purely on the basis that the cost of motoring is rising and the are both essentialy the same car (same chassis, both turbo).

The Polo is a higher insurance group, a higher road tax band, and mpg is obviously lower. And if your Fabia has never missed a beat then keep it, as 77k is low for a diesel. You don't know how the Polo's been driven either - could of been ragged every morning from cold all its life, but i suppose thats a risk you take when buying any used car.

At the end of the day it is up to you and the Polo GTI is a great car but i think the Fabia is a better car as its easier on the wallet.

Hope this helps and sorry if i'm biased lol.

Thanks Adam. Good points - been mulling it over and think you're right - I'm fond of the vRS and think there could be a strong possibilty I'd regret a swap.

If your getting bored do a bit of modding, like styling, remap, wheels etc.

My uncle has a stage 2 (225hp) gti (9n) and that thing is RAPID! Its only a light little 3 door after all ;) I would swap if I could haha! although running costs would of course be much higher, there is no doubt that its a faster car.

Would be an interesting comparison (cost & performance wise) with a stage 2 Fabia :)

Matt

Hey mate, ive done this swap and back to the vRS again.lol

Polo is quicker as expected! Train in 3rd and with Revo! very RAPID!LOL

If that and handling/ interior been better then polo it is!

vRS is the best all rounder as it can be better with acouple of mods plus MPG is twice as good and the fuel you would be throwing at it will make you cry:(

Cheers.

Too fond of the Fabia so I'm sticking with it. Plus don't feel I can justify the cost to change for a car that has done 62k (it's up for sale at £6k - probably get offered about £2.5k on mine as a trade-in). On top of that the Polo has kerbed alloys (although it has Eagle F1s with plenty of tread all round) - though don't think I've ever seen Monzas (?) that haven't been kerbed! - I'd want to get those sorted that's another £250 approx. on top. When you add in incidental expenses you'd be talking nearly £4k to change!
