Tyre Help again (sorry!!)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After debating afair bit I think I will go for the Toyo over the bridgestone P1, but which Toyo's should I go for either the Proxes T1-S or the newier T1-R.

I've check the reviews section on the T1-S but just wonder if anyone had heard good or bad stuff about the T1-R.

All views good or bad would help me alot.

Thanks

Mike

The T1-R are better than the T1-S and only

also really bad in the wet

also really bad in the wet

I think youll find that they are really good in the wet... one of the best according to the tyre tests :)

also really bad in the wet

They are great, especially at clearing standing water at 70mph....

They don't wear particularly well, so I've tried the Kumho Ecsta 712's this time -

everytime i have driven on them they have been shocking in the wet very odd then

hmmm so do the T1-S have the same soft tyre wall?

I'll be running 45's on standard rims and suspension. Big question is are the better than the standard tyres on the fabia? Also how much give is there? And has it made the back end slide out at all?

best tyres i have used so far are exalto 2's they cost a bit but seem very good so far

haven't headr of those maybe some searching is needed :)

Have used Mich Pilot Exalto's, used to swear by em on light FWD hatches, but they don't perform quite so well on heavier cars.... should suit the fab tho...

The new T1-R has stiffer sidewalls to prevent this...

So far on my Octy vRS the tyres grip better all round.. I don't find the 'flex' in the tyre Tyre pressures need changing perhaps?... Also the tyres are considerably quieter.. But the T1-S were near the end of there life...

So go for the T1-R --- The T1-S is getting phased out...

Also I don't think 21K miles for a set of T1-S is poor wear.. Standard Dunlops wear almost worn out at 18k ... They also were far more expensive and did not grip as well..... So I recommend T1-R...

any more views or thoughts?

I dont think you appriciate the difference in cost... the exaltos will cost over double what the Toyos will...

If you are considering the Toyo's the T1-R is superior to the T1-S, bit quieter and with supposedly longer life although as the have not been around long the longer life is yet to be proven. I had T1-R's (225/45/17) fitted to my Octy and they are offer better grip in all conditions (including the wet ;) ) compared to the previously fitted Conti SP2's.

Running brand new 205/40 17s T1-S on my new 17s... and they've not disappointed me yet, but I'm taking it easy to allow scrubbing in before I push them at all.

On track, the T1-S is a damn good tyre, although a few laps of Anglesey soon destroyed my two front tyres I was using at the time.

Generally I've noticed no sidewall flex at all. Seen a little bit of skippety jumpety on slightly rough surfaced bends, but generally for 4 tyres I spent

I wouldn't expect ultra high performance from them, but for someone on a budget usually, to shod my car with new tyres for

where did you get your tyres fitted? and how much would be a reasonable price to pay to get tyres fitted if you brought along your own tyres?[/quote']

As a guide my local fitter did the whole lot (fitting, valve, balance + disposal of old tyres) for

I paid

i only paid 99 for my exalto's

The best I've found for toyo's are

Toyo 205/45R16 RF PXT1-R 81W

Hi all,

Choosing tyres is always a fun topic. You pay more for better tyres, but you can buy cheaper ones more often. Soft rubber grips well, but doesn't last long. More dry grip means more rubber on the road which is not as good in the wet as it doesn't have the grooves to clear the water.

Different drivers, different feel for cars, different cars...

What a minefield!!

Personally, Pirelli P-Zero Neros standard size 205/45-16.
