Yeti 1.2 TSi

Featured Replies

Ok. I'd be particularly interested if you'd post actual brimmed figures though. The only way of realistically proving what it's actually doing to the gallon, rather than the figures generated by the electronics. Thanks for advising of your figures.

I have checked our 1.2 DSG in brim-to-brim calculations and found the dash display was only optimistic to the tune of 0.1mpg.

Ours has averaged 38mpg from new due to still only having less than 3000 miles on it and being used for short village to village hops most of the time.

When we took it from Essex to Wales for a long weekend we averaged 42mpg for the whole trip.

The best I ever saw was driving to work and pretending I was in my Fabia Greenline II. I averaged 55mpg for the 42 miles trip.

I am sure that with slightly longer runs than my wife averages I could easily get more than 40mpg every day.

LOL, I wouldn't be calculating it on an abacus!

Not quite sure what to make of that....but pleased you're amused :) I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say....

I guess I have a little more faith in the electronics.:)

Just calculated my fuel usage for the past few days, i am averaging 31mpg.............. which is considered very good over here!.

I know why its so hard to get good MPG here, its because you cannot mantain an average safe speed as drivers use the highway as a race track and randomly change lanes to overtake and undertake, you are either slamming on the brakes avoiding a moron cutting in or having to accelerate for your life to merge onto another lane to avoid crashing into the back of an a-hole cutting in at half your speed.

Sucks doesnt it :'(

Just a thought, the Yeti is available in a variety of specifications and it is probable that the Greenline is the most fuel efficient. For those who regard cheapness as the supreme interest perhaps they should forget new vehicles altogether. By far the cheapest motoring is done in second hand machinery. If it must include similar load carrying an old van based diesel would make sense. Otherwise a cheap small car. For low mileage drivers hiring when necessary or taxis would do.

It is a bit of a diversion to know how few pence per mile can be spent on fuel when depreciation and tax/insurance are taken into account.

Still worth checking once.

While the Yeti is only 0.1mpg out the Fabia is 5mpg out.

:o Crikey! My wife's Fabia 1.2TSI is showing an average of 31.1 mpg as an average on the maxidot! Still, my V6 Superb Estate is currently showing 18.2 mpg. However, we have both been doing quite a bit of driving in heavy traffic lately!

Still worth checking once.

I'm not that concerned to be honest. As long as it's not doing 15mpg I'm happy!

+1.

20mpg = bad. 60mpg = good. Anything else just varies between these and don't bother me much.

Well, yes of course I hear what you say. But, correct me if I'm wrong, and, as you know I often am, doesn't almost everyone on this site make mention of their mpg at some point? Usually diesel owners saying what they've achieved...and sometimes it's included in their name description title thingy at the end of each post (you have one yourself, Johann).

And, isn't it the sort of thing that a place like this would be expected to cover in more detail? The very tiniest detail gets covered...thankfully, coz you get such comprehensive information just by asking and people are glad to share the stuff.

But here you're almost saying....'well as long as it goes that's OK'

Doesn't seem to follow the usual 'spirit' of the place.

Anyway, not a lot more for me to add.....it does 33mpg and, by the sound of it, I should be grateful.

That's what I was thinking Oldstan.

Why claim any mpg figures, if you don't know if the digital readout is accurate and don't care enough to even check it once?

People quoting mpg and then saying they don't care if what they quote is accurate just strikes me as a bit unusual.

I asked a Bently driver once what mpg he got. No idea was the answer. He didn't even know how much fuel it took to fill it up.

Now that I understand. :giggle:

Mind you, those on Fuelly get it worked out for them (me included) and so know a true reading over the maxi-dot anyway.

No! My point is I don't care if my Maxidot is out by 2mpg or 0.2mpg. If it was out by 10mpg I'd know since I can see on my online fuel Spiritmonitor (on my signature) what other people are getting. So that my Maxidot is correct within 5mpg this way or that does not concern me. The consumption in my signature is exactly as you all advocate: brim to brim from full to full with the exact same amount of clicks when it is full... so that is as accurate as any of the figures you guys quote. So I don't see the issue?

If I post Maxidot photos everyone knows the tolerances of that... If you want the real thing read my signature. Easypeasy.

Mr.900000, it was more of a general comment rather than aimed at you. But I see what you mean.

As you have the Fuelly box you clearly know exactly what yours is really doing. :D:

PS. The new Shell stastion up the road should be open very soon.

They were stocking up the shop an hour ago.

Oh I know! I read it that way and know it was not aimed at me.

And yes from the start the sign on the fuel station said it will be opening today on the 24th. If only everything in life ran exactly to time like that! :giggle:

I guess it was aimed at me then! :(

If you consider that the Maxidot is the single common element when discussing mpg figures on this forum(regardless that it's pretty accurate). Quoting it's figures is a better comparison between engine sizes/fuel consumption etc. than relying on an individual's calculations that could include a number of errors - an example of which could be using US Gallons if using an App or online calculator.

If the Maxidot is accurate to within 5% it's more accurate than most speedometers.
