Fuel economy/ remap Question

Featured Replies

Is this just an urban myth lads? Or did anyone get noticeably better, or worse fuel economy after a remap on there vrs?

initially worse, but now the adaptive ecu has sorted itself out (couple of 40/50 mile drives) around the same. Last night I drove the 40 miles home from work enthusiastically and still returned 33mpg  .

I'm now looking forward to getting the Jetex down pipe and sports cat fitted today  .

depends on the remap

I have had lots of crap maps by variouse mappers. Now I have 2 maps I use, RS Tuning custom(Leeds) and Imposible Performance stage 1 remap.

RS map is nice and powerfull but fuel is not good on a run 40 is max really

IP map is prob only 210bhp but OMG its ace on fuel, on a run from Cardiff to Huddersfield I have had 46mpg cruise set to 65 ish.

best I had on the std map with no mods at all was 45mpg but that was with cruise set to 55 and all Mways

on a daily drive now with the IP ECU in I get 38 one way (going for it tho) and 40> on way back again cruise set around 60.

so yea a remap can improve the eco

I've kept a fuel log since I got the car new and there's nothing in it really for me post map. After the initial giddiness had worn off and my right foot settled down, it all seemed to be about the same. I'm currently averaging 35mpg on a tank full, but that usually drops in winter. On a long run I get between 40-42mpg if driving steadily. That's not 65mph either, more like an indicated 70-75mph.

It's an RS Tuning map by the way.
