seat belt alarm

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

First time to the skoda forum.I've owned an Octavia for 5 years now and have been really pleased with it. Recently though I have been driven mad by a faulty seat belt alarm which sounds randomly, if I push the seat belt down into connection it ceases only to sound again after a short time.Seemingly a faulty connection. The seat belt is functioning correctly. I would like to disconnect the alarm altogether. Any ideas?

PS Why do we need to be reminded by the car to wear the seatbelt? I've been wearing one for over twenty years prior to owning a car with an audible reminder. Its a bit like a vehicular extension of the nanny state don't you think? bearable until it malfunctions.

Welcome to Briskoda, might be best to post in the Octavia section.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome.

If your Octavia is a MKI then the only guaranteed way to stop the warning going off is by physically unplugging the black plug that goes to the seat belt buckle (under the seat) as some MKI Octavia's do not accept coding the alarm out.

If it's a MKII Octavia then you have the choice to code the warning out (with VCDS) or again by unplugging the plug.
