Put your car through Webuyanycar.com and it'll tell you in the quote.

Take a look at some of the plastic fittings and parts, especially in the engine bay. They all have date codes stamped on them. With "just in time" manufacturing these dates will give you a good idea of the car's age.

just a thought, i may be wrong and cant be arsed to look now as its dark out, but is it not on the sticker in the boot that has the options, paint code etc. on it?

It's worth bunging your VIN number (its on the vehicle data panel in the boot or passenger side door, or manual) into any of the online 'VIN decoders' these include the build date although I can't remember whether its exact.

Les.

The chassis number gives you the build year, not month though.

on the passenger side, open the door, the b-pillar, at the bottom, there is a build plate - tells u the month & the yr the car was built.

it also has the vin #, gross & axle weights.

Thanks JR. Found plate but not sure of how to make sense of number sequence. Can you enlighten how to interpret? Thanks.

oh :o

mine actually has it in words, in my case - "SEP 10". no numbers to decode.

its written vertically, while the everything else is written normally (horizontal).

i'll c if i can take a pic for u sometime today.

I have noticed a little, what looks like, date stamp on the sticker in the handbook, on mine it says "40 2008" which I take to mean it was built during week 40 2008. Also when I went to a Skoda dealer to book it in for a service first time, the service bloke put the reg no. into the system, that gave him the VIN and from that he found the exact build date.

You can get a rough guide if you have ETKA, for example I traced mine by VIN to between 31/3/2007-30/4/2007 and was made in Mlada/Boleslav. My car was actually registered 30/5/2007.

here u go....

using the VIN decoder, it only tells me the model year, in my case my11.

Škoda Octavia II RS 2.0 TSI 147kw

model year 2011, production number 033684

6x airbag, production plant Mladá Boleslav (CZ)

The entered VIN is valid!

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply but it doesn't appear to be on mine.

The oil change will be due two years after the date of registration- doesn't matter when it was built.

(probably more accurate to say date of the PDI check- but you definitely don't need to worry about exactly when the oil was put into the car during the build process)

My sticker on the B Pillar does not have this date information but it does have the full VIN number. However I did notice that the rear door hinge above the sticker has "25/09" stamped on it. Now I know mine is a 2009 as I bought it as unallocated stock whilst it was on the the boat en route to the UK in August 2009. So the "25/09" could be the build week/year number?

yup that would b the build week & year.

mine was built 35/10, which translates into september,2010.

  • 13 years later...

Mine actually had a sticker on the timing belt cover, along with some other info, with the exact date of production, to the second !

Off the top of my head it was something like , 22.10.45 , 06 09 2009
