Graduated with a BA in Commerce in 1992, carried on to do a teaching qualification, coming out at a Teacher of Business Studies and Economics in 1993.

Now a Principal Teacher of Behaviour Support, teaching in all secondary schools in our region. Although I teach the most badly behaved young people in our region it is an absolute joy.

Today is the best day of the year though .... we broke up for the summer holidays at lunch time and I'm now sitting in my caravan having towed down to the Borders this afternoon!

I worked on a Farm, then got a job making margarine tubs, then printed paint cans and buckets, now I am a sales manager for printing inks all in a mere 23 years.

Leaving school trained as a Plumber; recession no work joined the RAF maintaining and repairing jet aero engines, worked my way up to piston engines :giggle: mainly Rolls Royce Merlins & Griffons (Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane) plus Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp (Dekota) with a 6 year stint on the BBMF. Took voluntary redundancy after 18 years service to go teach the old trade of Plumbing in FE. Still doing that 5 years on and going slowly mad :wonder: if I wasn't already  oh also educating myself with a Degree in Education & Training :D

Now then, just to follow on from a very interesting Yeti owners age thread how about a Yeti owners profession one? I will start with my lacklustre career: 25 years as a mechanic followed by 20 years as a dairy machinery and vehicle mender. Retired early and not missing it one tiny bit!:)

Blimey, after seeing all these high falutin jobs I'd better make mine sound better!;) The first 25 years were spent as a motor vehicle technician working on a huge variety of vehicles large and small but primarily Rootes/Chrysler and Mitsubishi. In 1991 I was approached by one of my commercial vehicle customers to set up and run a fleet workshop and dairy plant repair facility at his premises and after much sole searching and considering the offer of virtually doubling my income the decision was made.

So for the next 20 years I expanded my knowledge by a huge amount and the variety of skills I gained was absolutely unbeliveable from sorting out the office computers, laboratory equipment and planning bottling plant layouts and maintenance, to preparing and organising HGV operator licencing, testing and servicing. I decided early last year that being on virtually 24/7 call (often at 3am!) enough was enough so last August took early retirement and took a trip from east to west across the states in celebration B) I now work a couple of days a week helping out a mate with his engineering supplies company and stress levels have diminished

SWMBO has kept me in the manner to which I'd become accustomed although she joins me soon in retirement.

That sounds a little better doesn't it

Trained and qualified as a junior/secondary teacher in the 70's, but decided I didn't like children. Then into the Police for a short period (but decided I didn't like people) before becoming an Estate Agent.

In the late 80's did a short stint working for a Housing Association before the early 90's recession forced a career change (redundancy).

For the past 21 years I've been working in the electricity distribution industry and I'm currently in the 'departure lounge' as it looks as if within the next 6 months I may achieve 'escape velocity' and join the happy band of early retirees. Plan to tour Europe extensively in our motorhome.

My Yeti Greenline is a company car but we've been so impressed with it we will be buying one when I retire.

After 'A' Levels, 3 years at Loughborough College(1960-63) to train as a craft teacher. Spent 6 years at that then 3 years selling scales for Averys (hated every minute but much more lucrative than teaching). Returned to teaching (Automotive Engineering). Moved around a bit then, after completing a part-time honours degree and a post-graduate diploma, became Deputy Head of a large inner-city comprehensive where I stayed for 17 years and loved it - never a dull moment. Retired age 57 in 2000. Since then we have split the year roughly 50/50 between France, where we have had a second home for 23 years, and the UK. Though retired, I am Chairman of a property management company.

Hi all

what a truly intersting set of experiences.

A common thread running through seesm to be a set of individuals who have identified targets and gone for them, probably making their own luck on the way.

We could probably run the country!

Is this why we run Yetis....because we are no nonsense people who know what we want?

Sorry - not a yeti owner but just noted your post re the A320... I did the production control for the Main Landing Gear for those for a short while - hope that wasn't 'the worst'!

I'm a priest in the Church of England - after working in the DHSS/DSS for 10 years.

Civil servant for 6 years.

Police officer for 28 years (last 19 years as a traffic cop :) ).

Retired 20 months ago (and loving it :giggle: )

There's another 'God botherer' driving around in a Yeti up in these parts - wearing the old dog collar. I get a wave from him now and then. Maffa tells me he's of the Methodist flavour.

Left school in 1972 and was a student for 2 years, then became a Civil Servant (DHSS) for 11 years from 1974, then left and went into various sales positions/sales management until 1996, when I left due to being given the choice of an ulcer or a life. Became a car delivery driver for Vauxhall Demo Fleet out of Worcester until 2003 when we moved to Wales to run a shop. Due to finances I got a job as a Railway Signaller in July 2007. That will see me up to 65 I hope!

Not an especially polite way to refer to a fellow Yeti owner, I'd have said...

Please don't quote me partially and out of context and use that to misrepresent me. The full post is good humoured and inoffensive.

Agreed.I've always considered it a term of endearment.

I didn't want to go to University, so took a 3 year Short Service commission in the Royal Corps of Transport as an alternative; served for 10 years.

Left the Army and drove trucks for a couple of months until I became an Estate Agent, which I have now done for 27 years, 24 with the same firm (private, 3 - 5 offices, now Director).

Doubt I'll be retiring for a few years yet. ;)

Me........................had an evening job at Tesco while I was still at school (6th Form). Left Testco to join Sainsbury's and started on £1.20 an hour......................and yes it was a LONG time ago.. Spent a year working for a local electrical firm selling TVs' hi-fi etc. Spent a couple of years working for a local photographic company and took part in 2 or 3 'photoshows' at Goodwood. Worked in a mini-lab' developing photos within a branch of Boots, left and went to become Technical Manager in a Halfords high street store and was promoted to assistant manager, but was made redundant when they closed all the high street stores down, worked for a mobile phone company for 3 years selling...........................yes mobile telephones :giggle:. and ended up in the utility industry doing customer services where I met Kitten, and we got married last Jan.

and that's where we still are, but we HATE it with a vengeance emoticon-0120-doh.gif.

Currently trying for a HUGE lottery win so we can both retire to Dorset and I can play with my Sunseeker emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif
