Front Seats........What options?

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, my car was rear ended recently, I have since decided the best option for me is to repair the car as the chassis is still perfect.

In the accident the lumber in my drivers seat collapsed and now does not work. I find the seat very uncomfortable with it like this and if I do repair the car I know this will drive me mad.

So the questions I have are.... Can it be fixed?? And also what replacement seats would fit both the drivers and front passenger...as I fancy a change :p

Thanks

I'm pretty sure any seats from the cars based on the same platform fit.

So MkIV Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon and possibly some others. Or at least so I've read. Someone on here has the Audi S3 Recaros fitted in a mk1 vRS. They look fantastic.

Matt

R32 seats out of a mk4 Golf have to be on top of the list

Shhh, don't say that then more ppl will start looking on ebay and my chance of getting a bargain will reduce

Oh yeah just googled them . . . . . class looking. But I wouldnt say u would get much of a bargain on them.

I fancy some fabric, heated & sporty seats. Leather is out as I wear shorts in the summer and don't want to get cooked by my seats!

suede's good from that angle

these came from a Seat Toledo

they've got more adjustment due to an extra electric motor over the S3 seats

Under half the price too

Hmm, those Audi seats look awfully tempting.

Anybody know about connecting the electrics up, and what needs to be done, how difficult etc?

The wiring is pretty straight forward, all you need is a 12V ignition fed supply (fused) and an earth, for each seat.

The supply can be found in the 'power block' near the fusebox (access is from under the trim next to the pedals) it will look something like this:

You need to use the YELLOW +12v Switched terminal, then place an in-line fuse into the cable before the seat, this will supply ALL of the power needed for the seats.

The airbag plug (yellow one) will be different and will need swapping from your existing seats - if fitted, being a vRS I assume you do not currently have seat airbags, so just leave it disconnected.

Depends what you want to spend. As pointed out, other platform 4 interiors bolt straight in. I have one out of a Leon. Mine was £140 delivered, front and back. If money wasn't a concern, Cupra R would be my choice.

Easily done, especially when you have the matching wiring looms to go with the seats. As gizmo says, its easy to connect in, just better to get the oe looms if you can.

Out of all the oe seats (and i have tried them all) in my quest fo the perfect seat, the s3 seat is by far the best...and im not just saying that as i am about to break my car and sell mine! (out of my car) see my album http://s635.photobucket.com/albums/uu79/Sweedish1/Mk1%20vrs/ to see what they look like in an octavia.

I also have some matching leather door cards ;) pm me if you are interested!

R32 for me,

Not good if you are a larger rear ended person tho.

I can sit in mine hrs on hrs, even slept in them on drives up home after work so ended up being in it 7-8hr straight.

Err ok sleeping and driving?? you got special powers? If i tried that i'd prob crash :giggle:

lol, you know what I mean, I stopped at the services lol

by the looks of it, the R32 are the most comfy seats :D

The downside of the R32 seats is the "straight-up" head restraints. I prefer decent bulky things, like the fold-forward headrests of the standard seats and the Audi seats. In fact, given that I learnt to drive in my 'old folks's MkIII Capri 2.0S, I really appreciate finally having a car with decent head bolsters that I can stuff hard against the back of my noggin. Never owned a car that I could get even close to resting my head against the seats before.
