Need new rear brakes on vRS

Featured Replies

Worn the original vRS rear discs and pads out (59k) and would normally go straight for OE replacements but the Pagid discs and Bosch pads available from AVS and/or Euro Car Parts look like they are a good alternative. Anyone with any experience of either?

I'm really interested if anyone can recommend replacement pads that reach to the full diameter of the disc! Since new, mine have always left an unswept rim of about 8-10mm around the outer circumference!

Why not go for Textar pads as that is what is fitted at the factory normally with Pagid getting fitted to the front of most VAG cars. They don't use Pagid for disks though, but that does not make them bad, just definately not OEM - though this term gets slung around a lot when its simply not true.

Thanks for that, any ideas of Textar suppliers? Know who supplies the OEM rear discs to VAG/Skoda?

The rear brakes only do about 15% of your braking for you, OEM ones are totally fine. :)

Spend the extra upgrading the front instead :)

I used the cheapest Echier (sp) disks on my Polo for the rear. While they stop fine, the bit where it joins the wheel isn't treated/painted, and as such is rusty and looks awful through the wheels. The Pagid ones up front are treated through, and have stayed silver.

I know, that's why I'm trying to get OEM quality but cheaper than the stealers!

Went to the dealers in the end - £89 for discs and pads. Pads were TRW. Could have got these for half the dealer price from AVS, but at least no hassle with postage and delivery, etc. They're fitted now!

Eighty-nine sheets! :o

£40 inc. delivery for rear Bosch discs and pads from Jorily - can't recommend them enough  .

Fairy snuff (fair enough), does seem a little on the high side but at least you got the parts when you wanted them. ECP etc... have branches everywhere, well, almost everywhere. Might have been as easy as popping down the dealers for the parts. Though like you, my first thought about ECP was to order over the web. Thankfully their website is "****". So I used their branch locater.
