Regarding vRS headlights and black headlights

Featured Replies

Guys, quick question - do your chrome vRS headlights look like this?

My friend is trying to place the black ones but rather than 3 bulbs (+blinker) the black ones have only 2 bulbs (+blinker).

Where is the high beam? He and I are confused - can you enlighten us?

Mine look like that...

Maybe the black ones got another bulb?

Yes thats the chrome variant. The black ones don't have the seperate High Beam I believe. Instead it used a bi-halogen projector - i.e. the same bulb does both high/dipped. It's purely because the black pack is nowhere near as reflective compared to chrome.

So if I understand well when placing the black headlights you leave the high beam socket unoccupied and connect the rest.

Do you get a fault for not having a bulb there and if yes is it a matter of vagcom to remove it?

I'd imagine it will use a twin-element H4 bulb is used for Dip & high beam. If it is, the Dipped beam will turn off when maim beam is on. The standard twin bulb type, the dipped stays on all the time.

I notice there is a small side-light bulb, does it do anything as I thought the vRS uses the Fog/DRLs as side-lights?

The side light on the black lenses is completely useless. Its hard to see and just dims out the DRL's.

Dipped beams or nothing tbh

As far as I know the small side-light bulb does nothing on the chrome vRS headlights.

I believe the dipped/high is an H7

in regards to changing from 2 bulbs to1 bulb for dip/main I think the wiring set up may be different
