Test drove vRS today - Very impressed!

Featured Replies

Hello all

While waiting for my Impreza WRX to sell I thought I would pop down the local Skoda garage and test drive the vRS Fabia. I have found myself being drawn more and more towards one and thought I would just see if trading my current car in might be on the cards.

No surprise to find I was offered a disgustingly low trade in figure on my present car. I know they take the pi55 but, this was just stupid. I told the dealer I would need my head examining to accept his offer and he agreed.

Oh well I'll just have persevere and wait for mine to sell.

I'm after running a less expensive car that still looks good and is fun to drive so the Fabia seems to fit the bill. To switch from the Impreza to the Fabia I would be looking at an insurance saving in excess of

That sounds very encouraging.

Ive got a test drive booked on Friday morning, in a red'un. I really cant wait :D Trouble is I just know i'll want to buy one there and then, but I cant until May :(

Another convert  Sounds good to me :D

Hello all

I found each time I got out I depressed the seat height adjustment lever, does anyone else find this?

Glad you liked it. And I'm pleased someone else has mentioned the height lever, as I don't think anyone else has pointed it out on here. I do the same most times I get out, trying to change the way I get out of the car to compensate :)

Why the heck does it have to be that big? To me a smaller lever lower down on the side of the seat would have done the job much better...

Ive traded in my scoob today fo a Vrs. I was very impressed when I took it out for a test drive and allthough the trade in was a little on the low side impreza sales are so slow that it`s alot less hassle than selling private with all the test pilots about.

Pick it up on Wednesday and I cant wait!

Hi T-1000

A fellow Scoobynetter leaving the fold!

Another convert here. :)

Scooby sales are very slow at the moment, a family member has a bugeye WRX for sale, it's reasonably priced but it's been advertised for three months now. All he's had round to view it are dodgy looking young lads.

how do u manage that? Mine's as low as it can go anyway! :D

Just leave it at the bottom. Problem solved.

Its plenty roomy. My last car was a mk4 golf but my furby is/seems bigger inside both in the front and back.

To keep my two adult sized kids happy in the back I have to put my seat up almost as far as it will go to give them some legroom and every time I get in or out the lever gets pushed down and as it goes down and back at the same time I get moaned at as well as not reaching the pedals.

just can't win. Next car could be a superb if they don't find somewhere else to live first :)

My dad had a Mk4 GTI and it was clearly bigger inside than the Furby

I do think the furby rs seats are very well cut out. They do give a lot of extra leg space for the rear passengers thanks to the "H" shape viewed from above if you see what I mean.

I think they provide more space than the early pre-facelift Mk1 Octys. My old man had an S plate octy when they first came out. Loved the car but found the rear leg room was very poor in comparison to the size of the car and boot which is massive :D

I've been four / five up in the furby without a problem. But I'm a short-legged person so the driver's seat is always rather forward :)

The Mk1 Octy has around 1" more interior space front to back than the Fabia which is hardly anything. The Octy is wider though which is handy if you have three in the back.

If you need boot space though it has to be the Octy as the Fabia's boot isn't that big.

Cheers

As for catching the seat height lever as you get out, I can live with that as I love the way the drivers seat goes down so far!. My last 2 cars (both French) the lowest setting was always still too high for my 6'2" so I was made up with how low I could go in the Fabia (no pun intended)

That surprised me since I had always assumed that the Octavia had significantly more cabin room. However it offers just 0.9" more width in the front and 1.4" more in the back. Hmmm. A Fabia (vRS) next? :rubchin:

I have a MY03 WRX love the car but I was car jacked in it about a month ago in bordesley green b`ham it was 10am. That pretty made up my mind to get rid and hopefully stop worrying about a car getting nicked etc. Got the car back within 10 minutes thanks to Blackjax (no damage either) but after the money I have lost I wish it had gone forever. Still love scoobs but damm expensive for what you get really. Roll on wednesday VRS Day!

Denis, shall we start a petition to Skoda and ask them to make the vRS available in dynamic blue? :D

Interesting facts about the Octy / Furby cabin room though. I knew there wasn't that much in it with the first release of the Octy but didn't think there was still so little in it.

Ive just come back from a test drive in a vRS......... :jawbig:

I cant believe how quick it is, yeah I drive a Punto 1.2 at the moment so its gonna be quick compared to that. But ive driven my Dads Saab 2.3t and feels on par with that! The power just comes all of a sudden, caught me out in 2nd gear a few times, when turning right at traffic lights. The interior is the way I would like it, comfortable seats and nice simple dash layout. It looked ****-hot when I drove up to the showroom aswell.

Its gonna be a long two months to wait for one :(

My test drive is booked for tomorrow. I had to go to a Sheffield dealer though as my local Chesterfield one doesn't have one. But i have to agree, when they bid on a car they really kick you in the stones. When the guy valued my Volvo i was out the door within 10 seconds of him making his offer - makes me sick !

I've found dealers are offering in the region of 10% lower than Glasses or CAP at the moment. This seems a bit ludicrus as Glasses and CAP are the trade guides.

I suppose they'll offer as little as they can get away with! If the market is slow and people are desperate, and the buyer is within sniffing distance of their new motor, they're gonna try and capitalise.
