Wow, looks like an amazing job you've done there! What products did you use?

How did you get those scuffs out? You busy next weekend?!!

Three different Merzerna polishing compounds of differing grades on the appropriate cutting pads.

Spot polished the worst scuffs and scratches with the hardest cutting compound, then polished the entire car with a medium compound to remove all swirls, then used a fine finishing compound to finish and remove holograms from machining

The car has been finished with a single coat of Jeffs Werkstat Acrylic prime (as I've run out of Jet Trigger and need to order some more!) - So hasn't had a 'shiny' top coat yet.

To be honest, there are millions of different sealants and waxes out there but you can spend a fortune on a 'wax' and it won't look good if you haven't got the prep right ;)

Basically, hard work, a hard cutting compound and lots of patience!

I am on holiday in the folding camper seen in a couple of the reflections!

Forgot to say, I did wash and clay the car first

Where you going I work on a 5 star camping park in cornwall if you wanna do my car while I'm cutting your pitch!!

I've just got to feed my 5 month old, but I'll be back shortly with a couple of really useful links, and yes I'll list specifically the compounds I used

Did you use a machine polisher? I have a small knowlage of how to clean my car proper! I don't know about The different compounds of polish the most I've done is, wash clay bar, then use the free maguires polish stuff that come with it, what stages am I missing out here? Go easy here I'm a newb to cleaning cars, but dont like to keep the car dirty.

Same combination of polishes i used :) I love how the alloys look really glossy at certain angles :) Pity its a black car lol :p

Great work Martin.

I knew you'd get great results with that car of yours

You'll have to bring that polisher over mine one day. (Sep 9th??? LOL)

Just put my name down for the Castle Combe trackday on September 10th.

There's a couple of track spots still open (£30) ;) Or you can just attend

and park on the clubstand (£10)

It's a nice local day out for West country Londoners like us :D

I only gave the alloys a very quick jet wash as my aim was paint correction rather than a full detail - so don't score me on my thoroughness as in one pic the wheel is clearly dirty :S

There's no Final stage sealer/wax on yet, rubber trim untreated etc,etc - so someway off a full detail as didn't have time today.

Products used where;

Mezerna Power gloss - high cut

Mezerna Power finish - medium to low cut(officially), but great as a one application solution if you're on a budget as will correct 'most' defects with effort and leaves very few holograms if used carefully

Mezerna Final Finish - low cut, so not great for defect removal, but great as a last stage polish for holgram removal (from machining)

(This is based on VAG paint finishes which are nearly always hard! - On something like a honda Final Finish might remove a lot of defects as honda paint is soft)

Clay Bar, I just use good old Meg's

And the sealent is Jeff's Werkstat Prime (acrylic)

I'll find that link for you on machine polishing :)

Yes, Kestral DAS 6 Pro - you couldn't get these results by hand.

I'm going to South Devon, not Cornwall unfortunately.

Randomly, we are on a short break (cheap sun holiday!) and get back on the 9th Sept - But will definitely be there on the 10th. No track time for me though as I'll have my three year old daughter with me I expect, as she loves watching the cars racing :D

I'm sure we can work something out re the Polisher, just not the 9th!!

Many thanks Indeed, I am pretty chuffed with how it went - first black car I've done

I don't have the patience to do that to my Fabia, but I must say that looks bloody lovely now!

I've had a look at the cost of that machine polisher and it's a bit more thn I would like to pay for one would any machine polisher do or is there a good budget mid range priced one I could buy

Well I started out with a MAC random orbital sander from B&Q for about £25, was able to achieve some good results with that, but the Kestral does a better job
