skoda Yeti delayed build

Featured Replies

hi all, we ordered a yeti elegance on 10th January 2011 and were given an estimated delivery date of 6th June 2011.

Needless to say as time went on there was no sign of car being built. We were getting worried about the depreciation of our car that had been valued at £12,500 in January, when the deal was made.

We phoned dealer at the start of May to be told that our trade in car was still valued at £12,500(This is when our Yeti should have been built).

Today we have been told that our Yeti is built but our car is now only worth £11,500. We will not be receiving the Yeti until August some time.

However, we are expected to make up the £1000 difference, even though Skoda are 2 months late with our delivery. Surely we are not being unreasonable in expecting them to cover the shortfall. After all it is their delay, not ours. Anyone had similar experience? or anyone got any views on this? Compensation etc. To me, once the deal is agreed it should be honoured however long the factory takes to make the new car!!

Thanks

Would probably get a better response in the Yeti section, rather than Fabia II section. :)

I ordered my vRS on 23 Feb 11 and was told it would be 16-17 weeks lead time, at that time it was agreed with the dealer that, irrespective of the actual lead time, the price they had offered me for my current vehicle would stand. It is now 20 weeks and the price is still as agreed!

Have you discussed this with Skoda UK?

Been waiting since January

Dealer hasn't asked for a renegotation on my mx5

Not that I would agree (fiesta autos )were on my list

And a contract has been exchanged and money has

changed hands so in my opinion

They are breaking the contract because they can't supply on time

As to how you would stand in court not sure

Think I would contact Skoda direct see what they say

May just be the dealer trying it on?!!!!!

There is compensation for delayed delivery (I received £300 for 20 weeks' delay) and I received the trade-in price agreed at date of order, even though the actual trade-in was 7 months later (and I had put 4500 extra miles on the car to be traded).

I would certainly make a fuss about a dealer trying to penalise you £1000 for Skoda's inability to deliver within a reasonable time.

What did you agree at the time? - if you didn't fix the px price then, I think you'll be hard pressed now to get your £12.5k - although you should get your £300 from SUK?

Good luck!

When we orered our 1.2 in February the dealer gave us a current trade in value of the car we had and also a projected figure of what it would be worth in 3 months, as it happens the Yeti turned up in exactly the 3 months and the figure we got for the trade in was actually £200 above estimate, so I suppose we can count ourselves lucky!

We have order our Yeti 170 for March.

Our dealer has given us a price for the vRS saying that is the minimum we will get for it. They will revalue it in March. If the value goes up we will get more for it ... if it goes down we will still get what they offered us.

I would not have signed up for it otherwise.

This is the fifth car from the same dealer and I have every faith they will be true to their word.

If the PX price was written into your sales contract then you have every right to expect the dealer to keep to the agreed price to change vehicles. If he will not do this, then you can seek legal advice (from a CAB etc) or I'd suggest you can walk away from the contract at no expense to yourself. (This may suite the dealer of course as he will be able to resell your Yeti easily when it does arrive!)

You can always tell the dealer that for the extra cost you might as well buy a Tiguan or Audi A3 instead!!

I ordered my 110se 4x4 22nd DEC 2010 and my trade in price was agreed with no mention of a reassessment at the time of delivery, plus the figure was pre VAT increase and skoda price increase, all agreed and deposit paid, I picked up my 110 on the 18th may 2011.

Worth a bit of a try to hold them to the original deal (not your fault it been so long), or give them your car and get a loan car off them while you wait that has been done remember it from a post not long ago.

regards

Kevin
