Inappropriate driving threads

Featured Replies

There have been a number of recent threads in the Fabia forum which have been brought to the attention of site staff involving inappropriate driving.

To clarify Briskoda's position on such threads:

Images or videos which appear to show inappropriate or illegal driving are not permitted and will be removed.

Any videos of 0-x times must either be from a fixed in-car camera showing the track clearly through the windscreen, or be external showing a run on a recognised track such as Santa Pod.

Forum rules will be revised to incorporate this and other issues that have been raised due to a small number of members and staff shall be monitoring this closely.

Should staff requests to adhere to this guidance or forums rules then a total ban of performance related threads will come into force. Those deliberately and wilfully ignoring staff instructions will be dealt with as per the forum rules and may find their posts requiring staff approval before going live on the forums.

Sorry folks but some seem to want to spoil it for the majority.

It's an absolute joke that Ross's video gets removed for a 20-90mph run because he can't prove it was on a race track... It doesn't show anything except the clocks... Videos like this have been posted for years, including in moderators devonutopia's signature (his own recording), yet for some reason now we're being targeted hard for doing the same...

As I said in PM, threads about winter tyres don't interest me so I don't view them... The thread titled "Video of 20-90mph" is a clear indication of what the thread/video contains, so if they feel its inappropriate why view the thread? Just move along to the next tyre thread...

As mentioned by various people, there should be separate sections for modifications and performance etc and another for technical and general etc that way people can choose what to look at, as above if people have a problem with something they shouldn't be looking at it in the beginning IMO but separate sections would save alot of trouble.

This is not the point, this forum is not about 'Boy racer' look what i can do. read the rules there are guidlines in place for a reason.

That doesn't alter the fact that some of the removed pictures were clearly of reckless, verging on the dangerous, driving, deliberately set up for camera opportunities

Another  from me, all of the mentioned things have no place on here and can only give the place a bad name, it must however be a level playing field no matter who the poster is: member, freedom, supporter, mod or admin

I believe that a picture of a skoda's jumping gets far more views than the OMG cheap winter tyres thread. This alone shows that there is greater interest in the kind of things I'm in to. I think the mod's know of Luke's and my age and are discriminational towards the youth. We was inspired by a photo previously posted on briskoda that never got removed and that clearly was on a public road with other traffic. Must be because driving an Octavia thats not modded he's clearly an adult. What's to say Luke and myself didn't get a road closure? I think your far too sensitive.

It clearly wasn't filmed with a cam on his helmet, and couldn't be proved to be on private land or a track.

Members are free to view whatever they like. It is not upto members to tell others what they should and shouldn't look at. A number of people help others across the forum, even in other model forums as some subjects aren't model specific or they know the answer from experience.

Such threads are going to do the opposite to getting a modding forum. Even in such a forum, these posts won't be allowed.

Are you really intent on pulling its because of my age rubbish?

People may be interest in driving like that but Briskoda doesn't want such posts. It is very obvious that speed was needed and from the road sign & lines it wasn't a mates farm road, or done at 30mph. If you think anyone would believe otherwise you're being naive.

There are plenty of rallying vids showing jumps going bad. You also have no control when airborne, and anything could go wrong on landing. Tyre or suspension failure, pedestrian or obstruction in the road.

If you are aware of similar posts then report them for staff to address.

I think the trouble is a line needs to be drawn somewhere, now I doubt ros53y did his jump photo shoot outside a school or on a busy road,, and IMO I enjoyed the pic, as mentioned there is an octavia doing the same thing and nothing was brought up about it, I still do think that prehaps some people need to stop hijacking threads with rubbish comments, if you don't like the thread or agree with it then don't read it, BUT as said before a line needs to be drawn somewhere to stop the site becoming a chav invested Market, and in IMO proper dangerous driving shouldn't be tolerated, but my appeal to the staff is don't get dangerous and a bit of fun mixed up, you do a good job at keeping this site a good site to visit. This isn't me having a go just my 2pence worth.

I also doubt whether he rang up the local Chief Inspector to say he just wanted a road closing so he could go car jumping

A local road, which is perfectly straight, has just had a hump back bridge over a misused railway line removed, at great expense, because someone wiped himself out after landing badly

I understand your point, but he didn't wipe or or cause any damage so it's no use speculating on what might of or might not of happened.

Ross has a point to be fair though. The whole "jumping" thread was started because of an only photo on here. Now it's been recreated so to speak it gets removed? When the old picture was posted there was lots of interest on it so clearly "briskoda" does want it, or at least some of the people who use it do.

Iv always been in agreement with the stuff the mod's do on here previous, it's a hard job & all that, but I can see it getting very boring in here if we can't talk about quick driving or anything the brisky police don't like.

Matt

I guess people are referring to the Shifty pic?

It was a while ago but from what I remember there was a fair bit of flak flying when it was first posted so I don' t think it's a case of older drivers getting away with things. Does the original thread even exist anymore? That's how bad it went off.

BTW the octy was modded.

Prevention is better than cure, as the saying goes

What you say suggests that we could all drive like Lewis Hamilton so long as an accident doesn't ACTUALLY happen - the fact numerous people might have to take evasive action wouldn't matter..........that can't be right

Lol @ this argument.

Regardless of videos etc it still happens but there is a time and a place.

I know there are some cruddy threads but you can't please everyone

There is also a Video of the removal of the back box.

That was clearly done on a airfield too ;)

No fair point, I just ment in this instance nothing happened if he drove like that all the time then it's is a different matter

I'm not meaning to argue as I can see both sides of the argument, no matter what rules are rules not me or anyone can say they haven't been made aware of these, just giving a pov that's all.

I should maybe not have used Lewis Hamilton as an example above, as with Lewis an accident ALWAYS happens

Crashes into other people mostly!

Didn't even know the jumps were real! Thought they were photoshoped? The undertray and splitter would have smashed into the floor wouldn't they as them cars are so low. Thought the thread was for a bit of PhotoShop fun.

I can see why the mods have taken action. It's not easy being a mod (fine line between over-policing and being too laid back) and the pictures appeared to be of airborne cars on a public road which is not in line with the forum rules.

But having said that I think that Ross and Luke do make the Fabia I section more interesting, so I hope they are not put off by this small amount of moderation.

Yes, they may push the boundaries a bit sometimes. But they are also quite entertaining in general.

I don't think it's a case of having a direct go at someone for doing something and posting it on here - it's more a case of the forum cannot be seen to encourage potentially dangerous driving. Ross may have been in complete control and done it in a safe manner (he may have even had the road closed off!) but it doesn't stop other less capable and less conscientious people who read the forums to go out and do similar and end up getting themselves/others killed in the process.

So what the forums mods are getting at is that it has to be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you're posting an 'I did this' thread, it is completely legal and safety has been taken into account.
