Front strut brace

Featured Replies

With the seat front strut brace fitted do you guys notice a big difference with the standard suspension ??

Thx

would be interested to know this

Im after one too Just not got round to gettin one yet

I never had mine with the standard suspension, I had the eibach springs on.

It seems to tighten up the steering a bit, bit more happy to have some more power through the corners, but no where near as noticable as when I had the springs changed.

The rear brace seems (to me any way), make much more of a difference to the car's behaviour.

Not really, rear arb is the one which you do notice.

Every little helps though.

I had one with on standard vrs, eibach springs and with non vrs too (1.4mpi). Think most noticeable difference was on the vrs std suspension, however felt it was best with eibach springs.

Steering response was fair amount better (point and squirt), car is little more unsettling and harsher ride on uneven roads - during cornering on uneven roads, slightly more prone to understeer, the feel of steering is better however when its slightly uneven and or you lose traction mid corner it'll be more noticable by the fact you'll have no feel of the wheels lol.

I thought eibachs compliments it well as it minimises much of the negatives above, standard suspension, not so much.

Mines off atm because

A) pot holes makes me angry and

B) I haven't decided if I prefer a softer front end.

Atm I prefer less agressive initial turn in so I can feel the car better. I drive on more A roads etc so I really need to feel the weight for that initial turn in on uneven/hilly corners. Think that makes sense, feel free to correct me though..

^^^as above^^^

I removed mine, and the car feels so much better.

Just my preference really.

It was my first handling mod.

I noticed a difference when fitted with standard shocks and springs

but it does make a bigger crash if you are unfortunate enough to find

a pothole or a dipped manhole cover.

On the upside I found turn in less wallowy and more instant and direct.

Most of all it just looks cool when you lift the bonnet. B)

Feels just right now combined with the rarb and the uprated shocks and springs etc.

If I could go back in time I would have bought the rarb first ;)

It made such a huge difference straight away. It feels more subtle with

the firmer suspension I now have. But on standard suspension its like

night and day.

Dont bother

It made no difference to mine at all!!

A rear ARB..Now that is worth it!!

Made a diffrence on mine, standard suspension on mine currently. Took it around some roads I know very well. And turn in is much much sharper. Has a nicer planted feel. And is more keen to go from left to right and vise versa. I would recommend one.

My suspension was standard too...before I fitted the rear ARB ......and the strut brace made no perceivable difference.....just a "look Ive Ive got" at Briskoda Meets ;)

i chucked mine in the bin the other day lol

at first it seems a good mod as you feel the front end is slightly tighter (this may be because you are trying to justify the money you spent more than actually doing anything) but then you realise that when you corner quickly on uneven surfaces you get more of a hop than before which makes it more dangerous than its worth, if i was you i would just lower it as this will make a much more influential difference compared with the front brace.

As others have mentioned, the RARB is very popular, im yet to do this mod but it does get a lot of praise on here and Garry (grr666) did a good write up on it after he purchased it, or it was purchased for him :)

i would use the money and save for a slight drop like eibach springs, or save for coilovers, although the springs would be a lot closer in price bracket to the front brace :)

Hope this helps, Elliott

RARB all the way before anything else!!

Even on standard suspension, you won't believe the difference it makes.
