Forge intake

Featured Replies

Hi just fitted my forge intake just thought id put a few pics up for those who are interested in it.

Throttle does seem a little sharper, noise is improved but not over the top.

And performance wise i wouldnt say its mind blowing although i did not drive it for long il have a better idea after my commute tomorow.

However the wheels did spin in second on a dry road quite a bit easier and it does seem punchier.

Also ive lent my car to forge for the intercooler development so some time soon maybe august/september there will be a kit available. it will be rolling roaded before and after so i will let you all know how it goes. as for price look at around the £500+ mark for the cooler.

The intake looks very good  but i find a way to mod/refit the engine cover would look alot better

The engine covet does fit. I have the forge intake and cover fitted

Yeah janner is right ive just left it off while i paint it, it was still wet at the time.

I also have the engine-cover mounted, problem for us who drives on the right side is that the kit don't fit properly =/.

It blocks the brake-fluid and vibrates... + that the metal-part is too long... that or the hose needs to be shorter.

(hopes that someone from Forge reads this)

i was talking with the forge development about the vibrating / brake fluid tank problem on lhs cars and i got this one

Hello, yes this is an issue on LHD cars. I believe you spoke to John about this

last week as well ? The airbox cannot go any higher as it will rub on the

bonnet. We do have a smaller filter that may work for you but it may be too

small. We do the flexible ducting in two different lengths and it sounds like

you have the longer of the two, where you need the shorter one.

I have no other solution for the airbox however. There should have been a note

on the website saying that it will only fit RHD cars, but somehow this had been

erased. It is now back on the website.

The only thing i can offer you is a refund.

Thanks

Chris Lloyd

i got the option to order a 130mm diameter airbox instead the original 160mm .

sidenote : i almost lost the brakefluid filler cap after about 30 miles , so i went back to the oem airbox

pic

Thank you for adding the pic, saving me the job to do it :p!

EDIT: Okay, got offered to either replace the 160mm-filter with a 130mm or getting a refund for it.

I'm leaning towards the later one, but I'm thinking off what my options are.

Either it's going with the smaller filter or getting an K&N filter for the standard filterbox...

What are your suggestions guys?

What might be an option is to move the battery to the boot like on ibiza n gtis and get a silicone 90 or 45 etc To move it forward

can you show us a pic of your engine bay please

This is the enginebay, I'm pretty sure it looks the same as yours... except for the brakefluid-canister.

did you tape the canister to not loose the cap ? .

+ it looks like you got the same to long hose .

I want a mk2 :(

I taped a bit off dampening on it to cover it from vibrations.

I'm already fed up with it and will be returning it, problem is tho... Replace it with what?

K&N / AEM / Green i suppose...

Would the iTG maxogen fit

Or keep the forge filter, fabricate a bend and do this

the ITG got the same diameter . well the second one should work with the batterie in the boot ...

If you could turn the battery by 90degrees so its side on so it could fit then

i think iam going to check out the Sciroco/golf/octavia batterie mounting so i might be able to fit the batterie in the top right corner .

another question . what your avarage oil temperature on your vrs, after about 15 minutes on the german autobahn it seems like the engine is cuting down the power at about 115-118 degrees , iam not sure if you got the oportunity over there to drive full trottle for 15-20 mins .

mine on normal motorway cruise at 70mph ish its around 85-90 degrees. when really pushing the highest ive ever seen is 105 degrees, but thats not flat out on the autobahn at WOT in 7th gear.

I've seen 110 degrees, but that was when I floored it (on autobahn, herp derp) for about 15 minutes.

Mind you, I would need some tape for my exhaust cause that one is spreading heat like mad!

EDIT: I've figured that I'm skipping the intake and going for a K&N replacementfilter aswell, should work sufficiently...

imag0806.jpgwell iam not a fan of open filters due to hot air .... but this one looks interesting for non UK cars ...

any infos on the Intercooler yet ?
