Forge intake

Featured Replies

I'm gonna stick with my intakefilter instead...

I think that I have found a solution for the intercooler for my own needs atleast, this one: http://shop.klracing.se/sv/artiklar/intercooler/modellanpassade-intercooler/saab-9/saab-9-3-ver-1-_-900-94-ej-crossflow.html

With that one, you mount it infront off the standard intercooler and plug it at the side, then you draw another pipe to the standard intercooler!

Shouldn't be too hard to make something to hold that in place!

imag0806.jpgwell iam not a fan of open filters due to hot air .... but this one looks interesting for non UK cars ...

any infos on the Intercooler yet ?

Im pretty sure that would lose you power. Im not sure if you have felt the engine bay or touched the engine cover after you have been running the car hard. The engine bay get s very very hot. way hotter than any engine bay ive ever noticed. But its due to the turbo and catalytic converter being very high up in the front of the engine bay.

Anyway, IMO you'll end up sucking in very hot engine bay air. Not 100% sure of the correlation between air intake temps on the 2.0TFSI and 1.4TSI but tuners tend to agree that on the TFSI for every 1oC rise in air intake temperature that the Bhp will reduce by around 1hp, which of course is known as heat soak

yes i know , it just drives me nuts that the freaking forge intake doesnt fit, well my next day off is in 2 weeks . I guess iam gonna spend some time on the car and mod the intake and look up what it takes to build the batterie in the boot or turn it by 90° and check the space between the engine>batterie then . might be able to fit the forge airbox with an elbow 90° silicon piece at start.

sy what you thinking about a 130mm airbox ? does it still give some advantage or is it to small ?

Its not something you would know until you log it.

What about one of these batteries. Potential 15-20kg to be saved http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,32599.0.html

well if yoi go with the lightweight gel batterie in the front you could remove the extra weight pack in the rear bumper and save another 25kg without unbalancing the car .

...

another thing with the baterie in the boot will be the wireing all the way back there ...

Where is this weight pack, surely its not just a bolted piece of weight, id preumed they had gone for heavier cross members etc. If it can be removed im taking it off lol

ppl was talking about the extra weight in the back when they compared the wagon and hatchback weight but then they stoped posting right in the middle .

ok i was just talking with some polo 9n people about turning the batterie since the engine bay is allmost identical with the faby one

all i got was this. if i could turn the batterie like this and make a straight closed airintake it would be better then the "all over the place" forge intake i guess

Extra weight : the german forum stated that there are 3 weight packs in the rear bumper on the right side

any further proof on this on the german forums? ie guys who have removed it already? Not sure if removing a weight 25kg weight from the right hand side of the car is a good move as the weight balance will be way out.

that said, add some coilovers and corner weight setup and all will be good

Wouldnt the weight balance be out if you replaced a 25kg battery with a 5kg one since it is located on the passenger side of the car?

At the end of the day a car will only ever be truely balanced if its corner weighted taking the drivers weight into consideration. A person weighing 50kg with no fuel is going to be easily 70kg lighter on the right side than with me in the car with a full tank. So who's car is more balanced??

but its over the front axle so will have less effect on the overall dynamic balance of the car as its directly above the turning point/axis of the car. different weight over the rear axles is magnified because the turning point is much further forward]

however as said in the other thread, do the battery and rear weights and it'll probably cancel out

if hes got no fuel balance doesnt matterbecause hes stationary :giggle: fair point though, is the fuel tank not centrally located though?

Alright alright 10 miles left then haha. Even without the tank could argue what the optimum driver weight the factory setup is for.

Any weight of the rear is good for me. Rarther have a lively rear than a heavy car

Is there a K&N replacement filter for the 1.4tsi?

Is there a K&N replacement filter for the 1.4tsi?

Yes it is, I will have it in the middle off next week for evaluation :).

Ah nice one, look forward to seeing if its any good.

What serial number is it? check how expensive it might be over here.

i was talking to Dbilas germany a few days ago since their system seem to fit perfectly and is one of the best on the market .

after sending pics of my engine bay and OEM airintake the development guy was like "iam 95% sure our system will fit but i will get back to you in a bit "

infos soonish

if everything works fine the price will be around 210€

Partnumber E-2997, will update in the thread if there is any difference!

Would be good to see a Dbilas unit, they always seem pretty good

Got DBilas camshafts (253°) made a big difference from the puney stock ones I previously had.
