Thinking of fitting this;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110717811451

Looks identical to the SuperSkoda one but £40 cheaper (no suprise!).

I reckon it will look pretty good on a race blue. What say you?

I think it will look awesome  but if your car is lowered I can see definate clearance issues....... :(

It will look awesome but on the roads we have and with speed humps I can see it being ripped off if your car is lowered

I'm not a fan I'm afraid.

Ive fitted the Cupra R one to my FL RS and have no issues with catching it on speed bumps :) Plus it only cost 25 euro!! :)

K:)

Do it.

That was around the £150 mark a few months ago....

I also doubt you'll have much bother with clearance-certainly on the pre-fl the bumper itself gets lower as it goes back towards the front arches-I have an LCR splitter on mine & it's no lower than the rear of the bumper!

Stick a pair of castors on it if you're worried... :p

be careful

a guy on here from bradford whos username escapes me bought one and couldnt get it to fit.

I caught the front a little last week when I was on hols in france, steep decent that suddenly flattens.. if i'd had that splitter it would have been a big crunch !

.. or maybe my car is too low. or i'm carrying too much stuff.

The grille or the splitter mate?

Rob, this shows what I'm on about above-the splitter ain't much lower overall on the pre-FL. I do see that the FL is different though!

I'd be worried about fitting the grill, I can't see a hole for the bonnet release!

You have to chop a couple of cm off the plastic lever, then you hook your finger through the honeycomb to release it-it has been done by someone on here! (oobster?)

I like that. But I don't '£134' like it! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

It's a plastic splitter at the end of the day...

Both Rob, the answer is both :D

I couldn't bring myself to do that I don't think......

Indeed. Why buy something that isn't designed properly, then butcher a standard part to end up with a solution that isn't as workable as what was there to start with?

Computer says no.

Indeed I have. Although the lever isn't plastic, it's plastic and metal - and it's the metal part you have to cut.

Cutting the metal lever only takes a minute or so with a decent hacksaw blade, and the lever is still perfectly useable afterwards.

I just spent 5 minutes typing a whole big piece about comments on doing/not doing modifications, and I can't be bothered.

I say fair play to anyone who wants to make any modification, if it's what you like then go for it.

I quite fancy the splitter mentioned by the OP but I couldn't have it on my FL VRS, it would scrape on speed bumps due to my coilovers.

Splitter

I like it but to echo others I'd be worried about speed bumps, go for it if you like it, its what you like that counts bugger anyone else!

Splitter

Bloody hope not having just shelled out for it! I reckon ANYTHING can be made to fit..............

Would appreciate some more info though.

I'm in two minds over the grille - I like the fact it would match the lower grille and I like the fact it's slightly inset however it's from Superskoda which means its overpriced and the idea of cutting the bonnet release sucks. Surely they could have figured out something a little better than that.

I'm quite philosophical about modifying and generally swerve body mods as I think they lower the vaule of the car however I do like both of these options hence I've gone for the splitter for now and will let you know how I get on.

Other mods are refitting the Columbus, MDI and BT from my previous vehicle, adding some footwell and submarine lighting and thats about it!

Would appreciate some more info though.

All i can remember is that his name was charles and he lived in bradford.

hopefully he will read the thread and get in touch.

Aaah-a bit of confusion here I think: as far as I remember 'charles' bought a Leon Cupra R splitter to fit his FL VRS and couldn't make it fit, not the ebay/Superskoda one, but I could be wrong. (Although 'kit' has??) I've never seen a picture of an LCR splitter fitted to a FL though...

I doubt it would fit to be honest. I had a pre FL until recently and it was a bitch to fit the LCR to because of the curving bumper. Still, it went on and over time I had three different Octy oweners ask me where i got it from!

I mailed the guy regarding the FL one and he is adament that this will go on without modification "with glue and screws"!!

Can't wait........to go crawling under the bloody car to fit it! I managed to find a pavement I could drive across and overhand the front the last time!

I drove mine up on two pallets :giggle:
