Service indicator reminder before it's due

Featured Replies

1.2DSG, exactly 12 months old with 8,500 miles on the clock

The maxidot says the 1st service is due but according to the build code it is on variable servicing. The service book does have written in 1st service is due in 12 months. I have checked with the service department at the supplying dealer and they say the oil will be fully synthetic cos that is all they use and they wouldnt have changed it to fixed servicing anyway.

So should I reset the maxidot and get it serviced at say 16k or what?

Would the warranty be affected if I did wait?

Your advice would be appreciated.

It sounds like you are on fixed servicing which is 12 months or about 9350 miles (15,000km) You have reached the time limit. I would suggest having it serviced now and then if you are only doing such low mileage (I've done 9500 in 8 months) thern just have it serviced every year. Every oil change should be using fully synthetic oil anyway.

If the car is saying it needs servicing, then I would have thought that you should get it done now. It cost me for a diesel £95.

You can only change from variable to fixed servicing in the Maxidot. Only the dealer can change back to variable servicing (or someone with VCDS)

My 1.8 tsi is exactly the same, it's showing service due in 51 days, which is when it will be 1 year old. I am thinking of booking it in for it's first service, which is probably only an oil and filter change anyway. As it is mainly short journeys I do It might be best to keep on yearly services.

Sounds like another crafty dealership.

A member with VCDS can revert the car back to variable for you so it will correctly call for a service either at year 2 or 18k.

When I had my Yeti serviced recently - variable servicing, 18,300 miles - it came back with the display set at the fixed service interval. I had to go back to get it changed.

It could be that your Yeti is on long term servicing but the indicator has been set incorrectly.
