I just chucked the video recorder in the boot

It's heading for the tip asap

I'm sorry but unless it's HD I don't want to know these days

I was thinking the same just yesterday whilst i was sat looking at the 2 sitting looking sad for themselves in the conservatory.

Mine has lived in the Humax's box since I bought the PVR 2 years ago. Is it really time to ditch them?

Depends what sort of library you've got on VHS. If you want to keep the recordings, and can't face the prospect of transferring everything to DVD then a DVD/VCR machine might be the answer - Panasonic and Toshiba do some pretty nifty machines with DVB tuners. I use a Humax for day-to-day recording and the Panasonic for anything I want to keep.

I suppose until now they did provide a second TV tuner as well as playing the odd tape, but now with the digital switch over the tuners have become redundant and most people have replaced their tapes with discs.

....even charity shops are saying that they do not want any more VHS tapes donating now....!

Mine are boxed and in the loft waiting for an edition of the Antiques Roadshow circa 2090/3000, assuming the kids don't tip them the moment we shuffle off :giggle:

Friends/Buffy/X Files box sets....... ....mine live (with the cassette tapes..) in the loft too...!

I chucked my VCR out in 2004 when I got my first home cinema set up with Doovde.

Weirdly I've still retained possession of my box set of star wars original VHS tapes and Toy Story.

I have not even had a DVD player for 2 years. Apart from the ones on the computers.

Ditched the VHS in about 2004.

Dont miss either of them. Well , maybe a bit of nostalgia for my top loader:)

I know a few people who still own working Betamax video recorders!
