I'd heard a rumour but wasn't sure as Skoda Motorsport have been dedicated to Rally for so many years. Being a massive fan of the BTCC, the Octavia will be a welcome addition, and perhaps it can do better than the Golf......

A bit stupid isnt it when the new shape is due out next year

They often run previous year's chassis, like the TEAM AON is running this years Focus (factory backed), yet last years car I think was doing better for AirWaves.

Yes ITV4 live on Sundays, coverage usually starts around 11 to 11.30 in the morning and includes the support races. The next meeting is at Snetterton next month.

Its normally quite good coverage too, apart from all the adverts. Porsches, Ginettas, Clios etc in between the BTCC. I often record it on the Sky+ and FFWD through all the adverts.

The new models aren't always the best in the BTCC, 888 are still running Vectras which are one of the front runners. And I think the Honda Integra still races in BTCC spec' then there is the mkv Golf run by AMD.........

The MK2 Octavia chassis is a NGTC Chassis aswell! Like the New Avensis and New Insignia and Audi A4

MK2 Leon and MK5 Golf are a S2000 Chassis so will be no good soon, All teams are having to switch to NGTC, Expect to see some Seat Exeo's aswell

Agreed, the S2000 is the spec of the engine, basically a normally aspirated 2.0, where as the NGTC is the 2.0 next generation turbo, however some of the cars are FULL NGTC spec where all the components, chassis and even body are interchangable.

AFAIK all entries in the WTCC are running NGT cars but the 1.6 version.

Although the body shell can be from the different manufacturers, there are standardised parts which have to be fitted such as brakes and suspension units in order to keep costs down. They can also have an engine built themselves or buy a "stock" one built by Swindon racing engines.
