Upgrade discs and pads how easy?

Featured Replies

Rear discs are shot on my '04 1.9PD 130 MK1 Octy Hatch.

Since we had fronts replaced with pattern parts about a year ago it's never quite braked as well as it used to despite a rebleed.

So I'm thinking maybe get a full set of discs and pads (good experience of black diamonds on my Impreza) but is it a straight swap for say VRS discs and calipers or will I also need struts?

In a slight dilemma as the body work has been messed up by the Mrs arguing with a low wall (both doors and sill) and some numpty marking the other side in a car park recently. With 105k on the clock from new I doubt it's worth masses in this condition but it has been a great car which we would be sorry to get rid of but equally it might end up being cheaper to swap the car for something newer in the long run.

Why not just change the discs and pads all round for some decent stuff,

I changed my front discs and pads on my vrs a couple of months ago and noticed a marked improvement on the way it stopped, it had some cheap rubbish pads in and i changed them for bosch stuff both discs and pads cos my discs were shot

I've also changed my rear pads not because they were shot but because the mooing noise my doing my tree in, with the new pads in rear the noise is still there abit but its alot more bearable than it was
