window regulator issues

Featured Replies

Hi all

so I've now taken the stupidly designed window regulator out after ordering and receiving the repair kit, im now having issues with putting the window runners back on and also re-attaching the inner panel, do i have to arse around with replacing rivets or can i put it all back together using another method, have gotten so ****ed off with this im.seriously thinking of getting shot of my vrs, any one that can help?

cheers all

I used bigger rivets, its a real beeeatch of a job, just be careful you don't drill the holes too big.

well i hav'nt opened the holes out when drilling the only problem is i dont have a rivet gun to take the size of the rivets needed so i was thinking about rivnuts, i have m8 size rivnuts but they seem to big. i was wondering if anyone had used rivnuts on the panel and if so then what size?

Thanks again

I have had the same problem on both front doors. You just need to squeeze in the springs where the motor is attached. this gives you some room to get the wire over the last roller. If that does not give you enough room, you should cut 3/8inches off the end of the metal sheaf which is enclosed in a black 'star' rubber, but be very careful not to damage the wire itself. This will give you enough room to get the wire over the last roller. the repair kit can be bought from http://www.idealautoteile.com/ for about 19 Euros. Good luck. It worked for me.

you dont need to cut anything!. Use two pairs of Molegrips ,using them to compress the two springs. With a flat bladed screwdriver ,carefully put the wire over a pulley.Dont touch the pulley with the screwdriver,or you will break it.
