Smoothed Fabia vRS - Huxley

Featured Replies

Picked this up on Sunday night.

Keeping my options open at the moment as I am undecided weather to go down the sleeper look or give it some wheels and hit it with a lowering stick...

To get the ball rolling I will be doing the performance mods that I know I want.

PD160, Panel filter and remap.

Just taken delivery of my PD160 intake and just waiting for the postman to turn up with my panel filter.

  • Shamelessly stole weedon's picture to Photoshop it about to see what a black Fabia would look like with a GT bumper. (hope you dont mind weedon)

It looks in good condition from that pic. I hope you like it. Can I ask How many miles has it done?

I'm personally a fan of the Sleeper look, I do like a "Sheep in Wolves clothing" and not the other way round. Also you've done it the right way, got (or getting) a filter and intake before you remap it. This way the map can fully utilise the extra air-flow.

TBH i woulda spent the moneys on AIR for the golf  Static LOWS BAD!

Welcome to the forum and stealth all the way (JABBA RARB first)

No point in getting a panel filter, I'm making 240bhp+ with the standard filter. When I had a panel filter tons of **** was let through and damaged my turbo. There's no need so I wouldn't take the risk again.

That's the first I've ever heard of that. Can I ask, which make of filter was it?

Cake by the sounds of it

Pipercross

Pipercross

I have heard some bad stores about them. I have also read on this forum that some Green filters don't fit properly and even in some cases rust.

I'd be happy to fit a K&N filter to my car (I already have) and never heard anything bad said about them.

People tend to stick with what they know. I've been told Pipercross don't use any oil in their filters so I can understand when xa0sx says it lets crap through. K&N I've personally never liked, I have always used Green Cotton filters in all my cars and never had an issue. If it doesn't fit correctly I wont use it as its going to let stuff past but if it fits correctly then I can't see how it will let anything past? I will monitor this though as I always take on what people in the know tell me.

Thanks xa0sx.

I have also read on this forum that some Green filters don't fit properly and even in some cases rust.

Never heard of this happening to Green filters, I've had mine for about 10 months, fits perfectly and hasn't rusted (even after washing it by hand to clean the dirt etc off)

I have just found the thread where I saw rusting filters. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/205972-high-powered-19-tdis-what-panel-filter

Up until then I have never heard of such a problem.

Appears your right, strange though this is the first I've ever heard of them rusting. My mate has one on his Ibiza for about 4+ years now and his is fine. Maybe its down to how well their maintained

Bit concerned about the pipercross filter problem as I have one on it's way in the post :(

I know Unit18 sell and recommend them.

Might have to oil mine then if that's the possible problem with them.

Still on the look out for a cheap PD160

I just decided to splash out on the PD160 as I am saving money on my remap next week :) £86 for the PD160 intake stuff.

I think everyone is after second hand PD160 intake and I couldn't be bothered wait lol.

Is it me or do those filters look different sizes/shapes? I have a feeling though it just the way the camera has taken them.

Standard is fatter so when resting on engine cover has appear closer to camera lens, they are same shape. :)

Had it remapped at R Tech today.

It was 145bhp with the pd160 and filter, had the remap and now its running at 174bhp & 310ftlb.

Very happy with the service that they offered, very friendly and they knew their stuff.

Graph came out very smooth with peak torque around 2400 rpm iirc.

I will get the graph on here tonight.

Also got a video once I have stuck that on photobucket.

Done the vent to atmosphere mod on the crank breather today.

I used some hose and and blank from a A3 1.8t to blank off the intake part and it did the job nicely.

19mm oil hose from my local motor factors cost £6.

It has made a nice difference in throttle response and also nice knowing no dirty oily air is going back into the intake system.

Mite stick a catch can on at some point in the future.
