Mufflerectomy for £50

Featured Replies

I know there is loads of mufflerectomy threads and i've read most of them. I stopped into the local tyre and exhaust place and asked them if they could do it for me, they very reluctantly said they could. They said £50 which I thought was pretty good and about 2 hours to do it. They did however stress that it was going to ridiculously loud and tried to talk me out of it. Basically i'm looking for some reassurance from those who have done it that yes it is loud but not to the level they are saying. Not sure if they knew it was a diesel if that has much bearing on it.

I have not had it done personally, but have seen a few with this mod it does give more exhaust noise but not to the extent there trig to make out it does wake a really nice whoosh owl sort of noise, and there are plenty that will shed more light to the subject

It's not THAT much louder, just a deeper exhaust note and more turbo whistling.

It's only when you give it the beans that you really hear it properly.

All IMHO of course.

£50?? Jealous.. is it ss or steel? Where will they get the profits from... Surely the tip will cost half that already.. id snap it up in a flash. There's a few YouTube vids floating about if you wanted to hear an eg.

Just steel, i've asked them to keep the standard tip. Probably going to go in tomorrow after work and book it in. I've heard a few video's but not heard one in person so wasn't sure

Do it, honestly it's not stupidly loud. I've only ever had good comments about how the car sounds, and most look shocked when I say its a diesel :giggle:

Mine was £65 done in S/S with a new tip, but the price you have been quoted sounds OK to me. I wanted to keep the original in one piece in case I sell the car etc.

Great price.

On mine its only slightly louder, with a much better turbo whistle that never fails to put a smile on my face!

It would be loud if it was a petrol..

I've had mine for about six months now, at worst its slightly louder when sat at a steady rpm on the motorway!

Do it, I'm straight through 2.5 or 2.75 whatever milltek is turbo back, not loud till you give it the beans and I paid around 150 for mine Luke is being told it's 200incl tip from th same place!!
