yey tyres time again

Featured Replies

My Fabia will need new front tyres imminently

I've currently got P Zero Nero's all round but they seem to have gone up around £25 a corner since i purchased some 12 months ago

Black circles have got Toyo TR-1's for what seems like a special price of £76 each fully fitted which seems too good to pass up?

there'd be no prolems having Pirelli on the rear and Toyo on the front would there?

Or should I attempt to find some Pirellis cheaper somewhere and them maybe change all 4 to something else in 12 months?

Kwikfit have got Rainsport 2s in stock on their website at the moment as well.

What size wheels do you have ?

I recently got 2 Toyo T1R's for £70 fitted but they then told me I was quoted the old price and they are now £85 each :o

I was pleased when they told me that after I had paid the old price LOL

Theres no problem mixing tyres as long as the same brand are on the same axle. So you could have toyos on the front and pirrelli's on the rear

16" spiders

so standard Fabia size 205/45/16

If you're after a bit more comfort (as per your other thread) then I'd recommend Falken ZE912s.

The sidewall on them isn't as stiff as some tyres I've used but grip is decent

and so are the prices. About £55 a corner from Camskill.

don't go dragging me into your battles :p

and I don't think i could stomach paying over a ton a corner

Awwwww, those poor innocent kittens!

I would have thought someone like you would know tyres are a very popular subject on here.

Anyway I'm getting more and more impressed with these Rainsports I bought this year. I'd certainly consider buying them again (I will need to soon before winter) if I can find a place selling them and they are not at a silly price.

I've been running barum bravuris 2 on the front for 11 months now with no issues at all - they seem a good tyre for an intermediate. I think I paid about £115 for both Inc fitting at national.

Federal rs-r's. On a par with r888 and around half the price

That's why all track day bods/racers continue to buy R888's? :p

If you want to throw your money away yes. We use federal fz201's and they are better than the r888.

Search them if you like

Searched... could only find forum personal opinions. Link to tyre tests comparing the R888 and FZ-201?

Preferably with performance comparison as I'm not really interested in bang per buck, I'd rather pay more if the tyre is better.

Happy to try them next time if there is a test or two that actually rates them in comparison to the R888 I currently use on the car all the time.

Well our experience of them is the 888 is good initially but goes off after 5/6 laps. Where as the fz is constantly good over around 8 laps+

Upto you

Upto you

I was asking for a link as I am interested in comparing the two. Not debating, so not sure why the "up to you" comment?

Used the R888 at Brands Hatch on Monday and did 70 laps over 4 sessions. Did not feel any degrade in performance. My opinion only though. Still learning.

I never said anything about a link. I just said search for them. They are fairly new you see.

The full Indy circuit or just the short circuit? Brands ain't particulary harsh on tyres anyway so not surprised at those results.

We used to do time attack so needed a few flying laps when the tyres were good so the 888 were sufficient, where as now we do the Nippon where it is a 15 min race so need tyres that last longer.

The upto you comment was only saying it's your choice if you want to try, but don't take all reviews to heart

I was doing the Indy circuit, the short one. Not the Grand Prix long one.

They seem to use the shorter one for track days most of the time looking at the MSV site.

I'll keep an eye out for reviews and maybe give them a try in future.

Sessions were about 20 minutes, so with getting out and a warm up was doing 15 to 20 laps each time depending on traffic etc...

yes but you're buying 17" remember.

us boys with just 16 inches have to pay through the nose for the pleasure

using black circles switching from 205/45/16 to 205/40/17 saves £25 a corner on Paradas

195s are more common tyre, why not try them?

cos it's the wrong size

cos it's the wrong size

Um, im going to be a novice and say why does it matter? the difference in radius is -1.52% which is acceptable, is there anywhere I can read about this being a bad idea?

I would have thought it would stick better in the wet with slightly thinner tyres, also economy and acceleration ever so slightly better.
