Carbon wrapped foglight surrounds?

Featured Replies

Thought I'd have a go at doing thiese tonite as my grille went fairly well..

Needless to say i failed epically tonite :-( They are really really tricky to do!

Anyone else attempted it?

What product were you using? 3M Di Doc is tricky on complex shapes, and 3m 1080 is much easier and looks miles better as well.

^^^ as above.

I use the 3m stuff, been wrapping a lot of things for Audi's at the moment and found that 3m is a dream to work with.

Fog light surrounds look tricky though, getting it of the circle and around the outside...mmm??

Are you using heat to stretch the stuff?

Has anybody attempted wrapping there own roof in the 3M stuff?I've been quoted from a couple of places £200+ for having the job done where as I can buy a big sheet (larger than the roof itself so can do grill too) for £80.

How hard of a job is it?Could it be done by somebody who's not dont much vinyl work before?

Me again. My mate did most of it, but I could do it now, we didn't use 3m to do my roof but I now know it would have been much much easier to use 3m.

Try it!!!

Check out the left over I had. Plenty to do lots more stuff.

May I ask as to any tips on how to carry it out?Did you spray the underside with some water/soap mix to help it slide and not stick as easy till you was happy with the fit and heated it up to dry it?did you also do the flat section just infront of the boot spoiler?

Did use water with a touch of washing up liquid in a spray bottle.

If your using 3m, I wouldn't use water. The stuff is pretty good to Chase air out.

The hardest part is talking the backing off and laying it on the roof.

Didn't do by the spoiler my self but should have.

Thanks for the replies. I was using the 3m Di-noc vinyl. Think I need to re think the fog surrounds, especially the insides of them. The shapes are just too awkward lol.

Really like the idea of doing the roof. I suppose it won't make too much difference on a black car however :-(
