Whats this car like to own?

Featured Replies

In my case, without going into detail on here, my circumstances changed. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has happened to. I should point out that I don't make a habit of rash, ill thought out purchases, I've got too much grey hair for that ;) , It was just one of those things.

Anyway, I digress, with all my personal nonsense.

I was very impressed with the Roomster, 3 years old, but felt very solid, even compared to my last Skoda which was brand new. Gearchange was crisp and the car generally felt pretty fresh. If that's how well they stand up after 3 years, then it bodes well. I was pretty impressed with the power delivery as well, wasn't expecting a power house, but it picked up pretty well and was fairly effortless accelerating in gear and cruising at the legal limit.

Looking forward to picking it up. B)

We've had our 3 1.9 since new, now on 42k and nearly 3 years and still as good as new... Its a good, solid car and the 1.9 is by far the best of the PD engines...

Well, I'm loving all the positive comments on ownership, having just put a deposit on an 08 1.9 tdi Roomy yesterday. I did have a Yeti for a few months, but couldn't afford to hang onto it, so this gets me back in the fold. I did notice the slight leaning on taking roundabouts, so an ARB will be on the menu later. ( thanks johnny5ive).

I loved the Yeti and am hoping for more of the same with the Roomster, so it looks as if I've just shuffled across forum areas!

Strangely I did exactly the same as you, came from a 1.2 Yeti to a 4 year old Roomster 3 1,9 TD. Thought we would miss the Yeti, but find the Roomster far more practical for everyday use, seems to have lots more storage, and I just love the 1.9 diesel, loads of pull and very economical compared to the Yeti, we don't miss the Yeti at all, though it was a lovely car. I think we got caught up in Yeti fever at the time of the scrappage offers, and when it became necessary to move house, realised there was no point in having a £17000 car sat on the drive when we needed the money.

I'm sure you will love the Roomster, we haven't regretted buying it at all.

That's great to hear guys. I can't wait to get it now. I'll pop up some pics when I do.

The word which probably sums up the Roomster best is 'practical'. Lots of usable space,

Indeed that's why after lots of research and taking test drives on many different manufacturers' cars I decided to sell my Toyota Hiace van and buy a Roomster.

I can put all my windsurfing gear (2 boards, 2 masts, 2 booms, 5 sails, etc.) inside after removing the back seats and lowering the front passenger seat flat.

Also with the bicycle fixing in place and back seats removed I can put my bike and my wife's bike both upright inside with good space left to put a few suitcases.

I've only had my Roomster less than one week but thus far am very happy with it despite the slightly clunky gear change mechanism..

Thanks for all the replies, however we have decided to wait at least another year before replacing the fabia, get some wear out of the recent tyres first. Might be some cheapish early yetis by then.

If anyone is interested the Black roomster which prompted this post has probably now arrived at DM Keiths in Wakefield, as they tried to contact me yesterday. I believe it is level 2? and about 20k miles, 1.4tdi
