Right place, right time is exactly right - the one I bought appeared on the Used Car Site at like 4:45 Friday afternoon!

The car was tucked away in the corner with bird **** and brake dust all over the alloys

When we got there I had a big fear that they were going to tell me that it wasn't even on site... but phew - it all seemed to work out for the best.

I bought a "stubby" aerial for my Fabia - and obviously I'll retain that and put the OEM one back on.

Can someone help though - is the aerial on an Octavia able to be taken off? Or is it one of those "anti-theft" efforts which mean it's attached to a ball within the holder and you can only put the aerial flat against the car?

Or am I thinking about my MK1...

I changed mine and its the same style as the mk1 (anti-theft) , just yank it hard and it will come out this is now assuming the estate's and hatch use the same ariels and bases

Had my new Octy a week now and have to say am much happier, in fact done 300 miles and dashboard reading 49.6mpg average.

Still thinking about the Bolero upgrade - probably my first project.
