Lupo TDi or vRS?

If it's MPG ya after..... don't forget the earlier vRS's have a longer 5th and 6th..... so even more economical on the motorway

So maybe an older example with less miles would be preferable?

Yeah, I used to drive eco sometimes in my old one and could get over 400 miles to a tank, but then the Lupo supposedly does this with a smaller tank (34 litres vs 45 IIRC?)

If anyone can say how many miles they get to a tank from a vRS doing exclusively motorway miles circa 350 or more a week and it beats the Lupo i'd be all for the vRS

What is considered an early one mate.Mine is July 05 - have I got the economincal one :wonder:

Like 2003 early. Very few actually have them as far as I can gather

I think a large percentage of the 53 vRS's have the longer box, but it was phased in as part of the revisions before the 05 face lift.. Mines an 04 (built around may).. and it's got the short box with a 3 point rear belt.. But Softscoop (sam's) 53 has the long box and a lap belt.. (or more specifically, HAD a lap belt, lol)

Either way, your 05 plate will without a doubt have the short box.. it's not a bad thing, just different.. Allot of people say that if you're keeping it legal you can't get into 6th on the long box anyway... more of an autobahn option.

A Fabia would only 10mpg max more than the Civic, if it's mainly savings that you are looking at a Lupo might be better

Look into the Audi A2 1.4 TDI sport I've had 2 in the past while at college they will easily return 70-75 MPG, also having an all aluminium monocoque chassis they weigh around the 950kg mark and with a custom remap they can see between 110-120Bhp leaving you with a car that is capable of embarrising a standard Vrs. They handle quite well and look good with some 17" Rs4 alloys. Just my 2 cents good luck with the search.
