Tough choice

Featured Replies

As some may know the vrs goes in December.

Below is the list I've put together for a replacement.

It's based on a two year, 20,000 PA mileage lease.

All cars are around the same price to lease.

I do love the vrs but fancy a change(it's still on the list though!)

Please try to give any unbiased thoughts!(I know I'm on a Skoda site!)

1. Insignia Sri VX line red with leather and nav

2. Mondeo titanium x sport

3. Another Octy vRS

4. Seat Exeo sport tech

All diesels with roughly same performance.

P.s gone right off any crossovers or 4x4s

I like the seat thing, one of our suppliers at work had a mondeo and had nothing but trouble with it, he couldn't wait to give it back to lease company

In my role as a driver trainer I have been out three times this year with Insignia drivers after having had a rear end sideswipe collision. The common factor in all cases was the zero rear three quarter vision.

I would strongly advise not getting one, unless you actually want to keep bumping into people!

Rob.

From that selection taff it would have to be another Octy for me.

It is always surprising when you are genuinely looking for a new car; just how short your real world list is..

From that list, the Octy or the SEAT if you wanted a change. It looks like you want an estate with loads of carrying capacity. On that basis, and leaving out the offerings from Audi, Merc, and BMW which I guess would cost more, would it be worth looking at something from either Volvo or a Superb to add to the list?

If you don't mind me asking what do those cars come out as per month?

It's the same sort of cars I would be after when mine goes back :)

Do you not fancy a Mazda 6 Sport? B) Ours are on 25k a year, non maintained for around £380.00 + VAT PCM.

Drop me a PM if you don't want to announce your allowance on here.

Taking your 25,000 PA mileage, we are roughly in the same ball park.

Take some mileage off and the figures reduce abit.

I'm not keen on Mazda six inside, it's abit dark, and too many buttons!

It looks well though.

Funny but the Mazd gets mentioned on here a fair bit, but the Mondeo never does.

Aren't they pretty much the same under the skin?

First price back in is Exeo sport tech 170bhp saloon at £327 a month on a 2 year 20000 mile non maintenance

Let's see what prices i get on the rest...I do like that Exeo though......

Can't let my heart rule my head though!

I like the look and build of the VW Passat and with your budget you'd get a decent spec possibly with DSG if you wished for it.

As much as I look the like of the SEAT Exeo I think its one of those cars that will never genuinely be at the top of a wish list ...... tricky one but I think the Mondeo is definately worth a test drive at the very least :)

Wow That makes it £456 a month or £5472 a year or cost your company £10944

Or £9120 as you can claim the VAT back

Still serious money for a car over 2 years or roughly 18p a mile before fuel/insurance/mot

VX line with leather £354.49

Mondeo titanium x sport £369.98

Exeo sport tech saloon £327.36

Mondeo too much money, so out of race.

vRs price looks good and could maybe put a couple of extras on.

Still like the Exeo and the VX line.

The vRS makes the best sense all around.

Is this a personal or Company car?

It's a company car but it's my company.

I run it as a company car, ie pay on p11d etc

Right.

I can have tha vRS with DSG for £300 a month or vRS with DSG and electric Sunroof both in solid white for £315 a month.

I'd like the wind going through my thinning locks but is it worth the extra £15 for the pleasure?

At £300 it's £27 cheaper than Exeo and I get a hatch and DSG, so it looks like the Skoda maybe getting ordered.

Do you have to consider residual values in the lease or are these all taken care of?

My picks would be Vauxhall, followed by Skoda followed by Ford with Seat bringing up the rear.

The Insignia is a very good car for the money and a much better improvement than the outgoing Vectra, but I can't comment on the long term costs/reliability though?

Skoda is a "known" quantity - you know what you are getting and the deal above sounds good.

Again, the Mondeo has come on leaps and bounds in terms of quality and I do like the look of the Estate version (not sure what you going for here though).

The Seat I don't like and are generally a re-engineering A4 with more toys - I considered one before I picked the Superb. I suspect there residuals will be very low.

These all seem really cheap!

We just lease from the dealers, for instance Mazda Leasing it actually Lex.

Do you mind me asking who these prices are from?

These prices are from Your Fleet based in Leeds.

There are loads of lease deals on websites like Lease and contract hire, just google lease car and it will throw you loads up.

Dealers are usually way dearer than the lease boys, maybe cos the lease company's may buy say 30 cars at a time so get a cracking discount.

I was considering the sunroof when I ordered mine but saw that it was very small so didn't bother.

Definitely not worth the extra £15 imo
