TBH I fancy the square type. Do they do matching front flaps?

  • OEM rears fitted to a FL estate using the correct holes. I think they stick out a little too much so I might reposition with new holes.

The standard ones will fit, with a bit of warming to help it fit, or look into some aftermarket kit such as rallyflapz.

  • Unsure about estates but the standard octavia hatchback ones fit a vrs hatchback. Dealers will tell you they don't (mind did) but they do without almost no persuasion. You can almost talk them on!

Yes, in fact it is only the square profile that is available for the front and rear.

The new round profile (as far as I am aware) is only available for the rear.

Pretty easy isnt it daz?

Zeniths on a FL vRS, what's all that about!?

I do like the 18" Zeniths better but Daz wtf??? how/why have you waited so long im shocked you have any paint left on sides of bumper roads at home strip cars bare! How many miles you clocked up now? Mine did not enter NI before it had its rear flaps fitted.

No Neptunes in Ireland.

I had the same chipping problem early on but noticed it very quickly and put a set of rear flaps on my hatch - not a perfect fit but certainly stopped further problems.

I was only thinking the other day of removing the rear flaps again (as the car looks better IMO without) and installing the 'foils' as per the Yeti. Having looked at Ventureshield these seem reasonably priced and an easy enough DIY fit. May give it a go.

Regards

Been into DM Keith at Huddersfield this weekend and asked the young lad in parts about the rear mudflaps for the vRS.

He produced a pair of the square profile flaps so I showed him the rounded profile on an L&K hatch in their showroom.

He went away and, long and short of it, all new FL Octavia (except the vRS) come with the rear rounded profile flaps fitted from factory. Consequently these can be ordered from the dealer but they DO NOT come with the torx screws for fitting.

They cost £6.60 each and the part numbers are as follows:-

1Z0821822A9B9

1Z0821821A9B9

These should fit better than the square profile flaps and worth a punt at that price.

You do not need the screws none come with them as they are already in the car :giggle: You just remove the wheel are lining screws and the flaps should fit to meet up with these holes perfectly. Only reason I went for the non rounded ones is they by design give more cover the fit should be no different as between the production of the squarer and rounded ones the bumper did not change at all. Should still fit with the same bit of playing around. Pics when fitted please

Northern Ireland is in the UK and comes with 18" Neptunes standard in the Republic of Ireland its 17" Zeniths not 18". I do like the Zeniths design more on the VRS but only in 18".

Anyone successfully fitted some to a VRS estate?

In answer to all the above, N. Ireland is part of the UK, and is therefore an identical spec, if you notice my sig, you will see my VRS is a little bit tweaked, and the build thread will tell ya that Neptunes have very poor clearance, failing to go over my NQSBBK without spacers, hence the Zeniths (which I had from my last Octavia). Fubar, Ive had mudflaps up to now mate (same reasons as yourself, lol), but just preferred the look of the FL ones thats all. Piece of cake to fit, longest bit is jacking the car and removing.refitting rims! just under 9K miles on the car now in just over a year (now you see why I bought Petrol)

Fit a front and rear set of the square cornered type on Saturday, all good :)

Thanks for the code numbers and advice on this thread

So what is the bottom line with this ?

You can have the square style front and rear or the newer rounded style but only on the rear.

For either style you will need to warm the rears so that they give enough to fit on a vRS.

Have I summed that up correctly ?

Thanks.

So just to confirm they don't do the fronts in the new rounded profile ?

Thanks.

Not sure I have square type ones front and back on my 11 plate as they are slightly bigger and offer more protection. Someone else might be along with that answer.

Got some from my local dealer at the weeend.

Gave them my reg number (2012 model) and they said they wouldn't fit. Said I would take them anyway.

Got given the square profile ones. Was not offered a choice. Maybe they wanted to get rid of old stock but the square profile ones give a bit more protection.

5 minutes in a bucket of warm water makes them easier to fit at the rear.

Pleased this thread has been dragged back up, always wanted some but kept being told they wouldn't fit my rear bumper.

More money to spend on the car now lol

I think its the best most cost effective and easiest mod to do especially on a nice brand spanker to keep her clean :D well a little cleaner and less chance of throwing some loose chippings up taking chips of paint off etc. Was looking at how mine have done today ironically and still on there firm and straight  Must be nearly a year and a half now!

Bought mine from Derek Slacks and insisted mudflaps were fitted.

When I picked the car up, the salesman said the mechanics "had a right moan about having to mess about fitting them"

But fit them they did. I ended up paying for the pleasure, but had such a good deal didn't mind. I feel if I hadn't paid they might have just insisted the flaps didn't fit properly and might have not bothered.

Glad they are on though. Look good though.

I bought the rounded rear mud flaps for my 2010 vRS today from Simpsons in Preston. I just gave them the part numbers Chubbs listed:

1Z0821822A9B9

1Z0821821A9B9

Good value and fit at £13.75 for the pair. However, the dealer couldn't find similar for the front. So ... as Gti Jazz Blue also asked ... anyone know of any updated part numbers for rounded front mud flaps?
