Brake disc size for Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi, All,

I spent long time looking on internet but couldn't find the answer yet.

Anyone knows what should be the front and rear brake disc size for Skoda Fabia 1.4 8V 2000 model? Seems like the front has 2 size - 239mm and 256mm, but not sure which one to buy.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Ken

Unless you haven't got power steering they should be 256mm. Take a wheel trim off and measure looking through the gaps in the wheel or take a whhel off. It should be fairly obvious what they are.

All Fabia`s had power steering?????????

The differences are for the 1.4 8v and 16v

The 16v`s have the magic 100BHP so come with rear discs instead of drums

Yours will have drums , so will be the smaller size

The larger one is for the 16v and the TDi`s

The Haynes manual differentiates between Fabias with or without power steering so there must be some without and they state that Fabias without pas have 239mm, those with 256mm, apart from the VRS. Whether this holds for all models I don't know but the best thing is to measure the b****y things to be sure.

I thought the 2.0 petrol was a 288mm brake setup? Unless the Haynes doesn't cover this.

Maybe the 239 was used on the 1.0 in the mainland of Europe?

As said, I'd try and measure, only has to be a rough number to determine which one you need/have.

The Haynes I've got doesn't cover the 1.0 or 2.0 petrol engines.

You are correct, according to brake catalogues the 2.0 has 288mm discs.

According to EBC's 2008 catalogue, the 1.4 16v (2000 onwards) has 256 mm front discs. The 1.2 (2002 onwards) has 239mm fronts and strangely so does one of the 1.6 Mk2 Fabias.

Thank you very much for all your replied. My car model actually is Fabia 1.4 MPI 50KW, and I tried to measure the front disc without taking off the wheel, it seems like it's close to 239mm?

According to Haynes, 1.2 6v (engine code AWF) and 1.4 8v with 55 KW (Engine code AZF) without power steering, has 239 mm, dia discs. The vRS and 2.0 have 288 mm dia and all other models have 256 mm. All rear discs are 232 mm.

239 are 18 mm thick new, minimum of 15 mm (17 mm according to EBC)

256 are 22 mm thick new, minimum of 19 mm (20 mm according to EBC).

Not all the 1 litres didn't, and the ones that did were mechanical/hydraulic not electrical.

Not officially brought into the uk though

You are going to have to measure them with the wheel off. There seems to be a measure of discrepancy between sources here.

Yes , the 1.0 didn`t get brought in....was it to do the emmissions?
