Loose hose/Pipe

Featured Replies

I was cleaning my car before and was having a look in the engine bay to check everything was in order and noticed this hose/pipe thing wasn't fully in. Now I've tried to push it back in but it just goes back to where it is.

Can anyone tell me what this is and if I need to do anything about it?

Thanks

David

Yes that's the boost pipe.

It's fairly crucial as it's what contains the charged air from the turbo. If it's partly disconnected you're losing boost, meaning you're down on power and MPG.

Remove the metal clip with a flat head screwdriver, push the pipe back in, and put the clip back on. If it keeps coming loose the connecting lugs will be worn.

If it needs replacing you can simply replace that 90o section as you can see there is another connector just below it.

On another note, your EGR looks like it's leaking as well.

Thanks for your help. Do you think the leaky boost pipe could cause the EGR to leak oil or is this a seperate issue all together. How can I go about sorting the ERG out?

You need a new EGR valve, the diaphragm has failed and that oil is from the PCV system. Lugs will be worn on boost pipe, so new pipe and clip required.

Does anyone know the part number for that bit of hose and the clip?
