RJ45 Connectors

Featured Replies

Where do you guys buy your RJ-45 connectors from?

The past few lots that I've bought have all been rubbish. It seems that they are ever so slightly smaller than the jack, so the slightest movement and they become disconnected. Push the connector in the jack towards the pins and it connects again.

I've tried Belkin ones, Screwfix Direct and some unknown ones from ebay as a bit of a gamble, and they're all the same. :(

I think the last lot I bought were from Maplins

Last batch I got were CablesToGo ones from ebuyer. Decent and cheap enough, and never had any problems; nice firm click on any routers/switches etc I've tried them with. I try to get snagless ones, as I'm always pulling cables through and snapping the clip as it's bent back on itself. Is it one particular piece of kit that has the problem? If so, I'd maybe question the socket rather than the cable.

It seems to be all of the wall sockets and the newer laptops and desktops that have the problems. Any of the older Dells we still have, have no problems with any of the connectors.

It looks like ebuyer only sell these Videk ones. £15.80 for 50 seems like a lot if you ask me.

Our trade side sell them for £2 for a pack of 20, used 100s of them and never had a problem with flakey connections.

Those are the ones I've used. You get what you pay for. If you've ever looked at the tines or body of the cheaper ones you can see the difference.

You can buy the Videk ones from Misco and they are cheaper.

Always used maplins with no issues.

Maplin have been fine for small qty, otherwise I tend to get all of mine from RS.

I've had a few problems with the Maplin ones. Most of them a fine but every now then I've had one where the plastic moulding has a jag on it. I use Videk but the ones from RS and Farnell are OK too.
