Vibrations in Doorpanel

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've replaced the standard speakers in the fron door with a Hertz composet .

Sound has really improved.

1 Problem, when I turn up the volume (or low frequency settings) the door panel starts vibrating.

Really irritating sound.

Anyone encountered this before?

If yes, any solutions?

it will be 'normal' vibrations.. you'll have to invest in dynomat to get rid i'd say

My passenger side door does this with the factory fitted speakers fitted, yet when I place my hand flat on the surface of the door panel it stops the rattle. Could the door panel not be attached back on properly which is causing it? I've never personally had the door card off but unsure about the previous owner to maybe cause this.

My 50p bet is it being the door trim clips.

The original ones are a bit of a poor design. Revised ones from your dealer are available for a few pence each, and are a much better design.

My door cards have a small foam strip that stops the edge of the woofer from buzzing against the door card. I assume the audio place added them when the speakers were fitted. My speakers are 61mm deep and sit more or less on the window bar at the back.

Have a look on Talkaudio etc. Rattling or buzzing from doors is a common complaint. Use dynomat or flashing tape and/or foam or fleece lining for the door cards. If it's the panel edges vibrating, home door draught excluder foam strips can be used.

I have roll down windows and the clips holding the handle on cause the vibrations

Well it´s not the door panel that´s vibrating. Clips should be fine i guess.

When I place my hand on the strips in front of the speaker, the vibrations stop.

So I need to find a way to make these strips more solid.

Could the strips be vibrating against the speaker itself? Some sort of foam tape on top of the rim of the speaker might help.
