fabia vrs remaps

Featured Replies

As topic really...

Reading the shark performance thread it sounds like there is a decent amount more go available.

How many miles did you do before remap?

What one did you go for?

Mpg change ?

How did it change your 0-60 and 0-100?

It sounds like some remaps can get you close to sub 6 to 60, sub 13 to 100, another 5 mpg, and great midrange gains ....

Interested to hear straight from you all opposed to the sellers !

You'd best PM janner_sy B)

How many miles did you do before remap? 800 miles. Now have 4800

What one did you go for? Shark Performance stage 1+/2 (not full stage 2 as i dont have the full exhaust system, just a bodged std downpipe)

Mpg change ? +5mpg id say, but difficult to say as the car is still running in and improving all the time. I do know it seems to be matching everyone elses quoted figures from on here

How did it change your 0-60 and 0-100?Std vRSLoz did a 6.8second 0-60 in the dry @ inters on the sunday. I managed a 5.6 0-60 the day before. Theres more time to come as well i think. track wasnt ideal, it was damp and a headwind on the saturday. i think at santapod, with wider grippier tyres that a sub 5second is achievable. 1st gear was basically written off because i just span the wheels. 0-100 in sub 13seconds is a bit wishful i think. sub 14seconds definitely though

the midrange gains are very impressive as well. I did a review >>>here<<<

Theres a few of us running remaps on here on the 1.4TSI. fabianoh5n1, confide, me, big grey, and a couple more iirc.

me personally i was looking into shark, and APR as my main choices, followed by PTorque.

Mine did the 0-60 in 6.58 in standard form but that's still a second slower than a remapped version.

I agree about the surface, Pod should be much better for times

Is yours a shark map aswell VRS-Powered?

Is yours a shark map aswell VRS-Powered?

his is standard

As Sharkrider said that was standard, haven't tested with the tuning box on yet

I need to start looking at remaps soon aswell, good timing for this thread!

I'm tempted with the tuning box tbh. Since its also settable for 1 - 9 "power" levels... Wonder how well it works.

Infact, I wonder if it works with a remapped one, and boosts it even more!! :D

iam always wondering about revo gains ,

210-225hp on stage 1 . so what now 15hp difference ?

most remaps look about the same some got a better middle and others got good end.

the thing i worry the most is the temperature after a remap on the 1.4tsi wich is allready runing hotter then every other car i know .

The revo quoted outputs are fantasy. They quote 215-225hp ish for stage 1 and 218-230hp for stage 2. But.....the rollers they used for these figures read alot higher than stock. On paper and on the internet when looking at these alleged figures, they look unbeatable, but in reality, when you put it on a good rolling road which doesnt exaggerate figures, then all of a sudden they only get the same figures that all the other tuners get.

here you go, 3 seperate cars at JKM rolling road day. 1x REVO stage 1 ibiza Cupra, 1 x stage 2 REVO Ibiza bocenegra and my stage 1+/2 fabia vRS.

Couldnt agree more. The remap options tend to all be very similar in performance. Stage 1 circa;200-205hp, Stage 2 circa; 210-220hp. Im reluctant to shell out a further £1100 for a full exhaust on mine to gain maybe only 5-10Hp which would be largely un noticable i think. personnaly i think 220hp @ stage 2 is easily achieavable on Bapro or DynoDynamics rollers if you have ALL the bolt ons such as intake, full exhaust and intercooler, otherwise dreamon B)

your power/torque curves on your dyno graph on VAGOC are practically identical to mine iirc

Its mainly the few rolling roads such as Dimtech, Dastek and Dynojet that seem to give really high figures. Some say its accuurate, despite the cars running 10-15hp high stock readings, and instead convince themselves that they car makes more hp as standard :giggle:

@ the OP and other interested guys there is a thread i kocked up with lots of remap options for the 1.4TSI >>>>here<<<

and we have a thread dedicated to Dyno graphs which obviously you need to take with a pinch of fault as there are so many variables between different dynos, cars, operators etc to make a solid comparison. its just a nice guide. >>>>here<<<<

But the biggest issue with these cars, even when stock is the heat. they have obviously designed the engine to operate hot in the first place, but it is truly scary how hot the engine bay gets. Id like an uprated radiator as well as the intercooler. Ive also got heat wrap to put on the downpipe and intercooler pipework to reduce the heat gain and heat transfer within the engine bay

yes intake exhaust+downpipe and a good fmic iam looking into 10-15 healthy hp without stressing the engine/turbo to much (wich will come on the last oktober week by HG-Motorsport)

my guess is that the intake and exhaust system will give the most benefits at high revs and the intercooler the most advantage over the full rev band + less heat soak after a good drive and/or waiting at the strip .

i also removed the bottom und upper bonned gasked(?) to help the airflow throug the engine bay with the side effect of more turbo/sc sound but i can live with that .

+ i will be looking into to mod the grill a bit and fully open the space between the spokes since i always have the feeling that the engine is cuting down on high temps .

Do you mean the black sound deadening material under the bonnet? I removed mine as well. When i was @ Shark Performance chatting with Rob allum, we were discussing the heat issues of these engines, and he come up with a really clever and simple way of allowing some heat to escape the engine bay.

Basically, where the bonnet connects to the hinges, if you were to take the bonnet off then refit it with a 2-3mm washer between the bonnet and the hinge, it would raise the top of the bonnet a couple mm. Some crazy physics and fluid dynamics mean that the air passing over the bonnet will help draw the hot air out through the 2-3mm gap at the top of the bonnet.

That can only be a good thing. I dont think a raise of 2-3mm wouldnt be noticable either unless ou new it was there.

yes thats the one , from some pictures i have seen on uk cars i noticed you dont have the bottom sound deadening wich also keeps water away from the engine bay .

i will also remove the plastik engine cover wich just got 0 use at all the engine looks crap with and without it anyway.

for the FMIC i was thinking about to completely cut the front bumper in the FMIC section an put the license plate to the left/right side same as some fab1 vrs ppl did but iam not sure if this will be possible

I dont think a raise of 2-3mm wouldnt be noticable either unless ou new it was there

ok we looking into a lets say 2mm x 120mm opening at the top of the engine bay thats a basic opening of 24 square cm .

even if the this modification isnt noticeable it gives you a good feeling .

we had some1 in the german forum who removed the sound deadening wich covers the bonned from the inside it turned out he needed a new paintshop after 4 month due to bubble in the paint ...

Edited by fabianoh5n1

one question for you has anyone opened up or removed the sound deadning against the firewall/rear bulkhead of the enginebay as this appears to block off the large vents at the top of the bonnet that as far as I can tell do nothing at the moment?

Not a Vrs but an Ibiza Cupra

How many miles did you do before remap? 9000 Wanted it run in a bit first

What one did you go for? Shark Performance Stage 1 + Forge intake

Mpg change ? +5ish mpg can easily see 40+ mpg on the run to work

How did it change your 0-60 and 0-100? 0-60 in 6.6 @ International (But with a bit of a weight penalty) 0-100 ??? not sure...yet

Gray

warning incoming late night ms paint skills

i removed the sound deadening wich are marked with red lines on the picture . the bottom one isnt mounted to every VRS no idea why .

Thanks for the replies, appreciated

Now, a silly question.... who here has a dealer/manufacturer approved remap? Even if it was slightly worse performance, I'd be tempted by a Superchips Remap soley as they cover you for anything the manufacturer won't if they say its due to the remap....

Superchips (bluefin) dont offer a remap for the new ECU encryptions so are not even a feasible option.

Ah fair enough.

I notice you have done some trackdays in your Fabia VRS... what sort of cars do you keep up with/own/get destroyed by ?

I used to do quite a few trackdays when I had my S2000, awesome car !

ì had a few round on the salzburgring with mine and can say allmost every car is a tad better in the corners but at the corner exit and straight you pull away .

even tho i lowerd my car by about 6 cm in the front and 5cm in the rear i guess its the high roof line ...

With my S2000 I found the best performance improvement came from Anti roll bars and bracing as well as getting the right alignment. I get the impression FWD cars appreciate an uprated rear arb to try and get rid of the understeer.

No idea whats adjustable on these, but the S2000 from the factory was adjustable camber caster and toe at the front, and camber and toe at the back. Made all the difference having the wheels set up the way you wanted them !

The ARB is always a very good route to follow on all VAG cars which out of the box understeer for england. The vRS fabia doesnt even have a rear arb as standard so you can imagine straight away the improvements the whiteline rear anti roll bar makes. Adjustability wise your stuck with fixed front camber, adjustable rear cmber and adjustabke toe all round.

You can fit the mk1TT lower control arms and ball joints apparently which are adjustabl for camber as well as lighter.

Reference performance on track my thoughts were posted here http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/209555-the-furby-has-lost-her-track-virginity/page__p__2475530__fromsearch__1#entry2475530

Has anyone had one of these remaps done on theirs?

Just had an reply back from Star Performance about the O.CT's iPRO remaps. Cost would be between £700-£750 & it would be a full days work as they would have to remove the ecu to flash it.

Increase in BHP of about 25 & torque about 50. Seems a lot of cash but not much in the way of gains.

Any thoughts on this?
