I only know of one and that's not a vRS. It's a Elegance at Unit 18 and it's not finished yet.

There is a 1.8T out there, in silver I think with lime green spiders, last time I saw pictures anyway.

Didn't start life as a vRS though I doubt.

I doubt there is tbh, it's easier to start with a petrol Fabia and stick the kit on from what I can gather

Matt

If you wanted a 1.8T fabia you would be best off using a 2.0 elegance fabia rather than a vRS, vRS is diesel powered and swapping to a petrol powered engine presents more than just the normall array of obstacles to overcome.

You could fit a 225bhp TT 1.8t unit in a 2.0 elegance with surprising ease... you just need the space, tools and know how.

also i believe one of the Mods has a silver 1.8T fabia that he calls the mongrel?! please correct me if i'm wrong

But yes it's been done more than a few times.... i think theres 2 on here

Unit 18 said it'd actually be easier using a vRS?

You're wrong, it's a vRS engine with a Q7 turbo

But if you want something faster than a 1.8T Fabia

you should check out the Felcica Section as TeflonTom is currently doing a 1.8T conversion into a Felly... enigine has a 200bhp map on it too so that should shove the sub 1 tonne car somewhere very fast indeed.

it will be a sleeper i suspect

I've read/seen a couple of continental efforts.

I'd rather see a 2.0 16V TDI or a 2.0 TFSI or a 4WD conversion, as they'd be new.

Arguably, most of the dynamic bits would get binned installing a high powered 1.8T (why else would you do it), so start with any petrol Fabia and budget for a Sport or VRS style front end?

J.

A 2.0 tdi pd Fabia would be fairly simple, you can buy the 2.0 pd pistons from Darkisde developments and just re-bore the 1.9 pd.

Heres me thinking out loud...What about four pistons from the VAG 4.2 V8 tdi? Anyone know if they would fit and then re-bore to 2.1 litres. There is a guy in the states that did that in an Audi A4 but he started with a 2.0tdi CR.

There is a guy with a 1.8T Fabia with build thread, he's a memeber on here too. I'll have a look for it...

here

Not that informative, but a good read non the less

I would love to see a 4wd fabia

There is one in the Czech (sp?) Republic I think - or some where in that part of the world.

Is that the silver one with LCR alloys on it?

Tecnically its a PD100 engine but there 90% the same as the vRS

devonutopia's (Jason) Fabia started life as an PD100 but got a PD130 engine conversion

I think they might be Ibiza Cupra alloys...but only think

as for building a 1.8T Fabia, I really don't see the point when you can just buy a 1.8T Ibiza/Polo. and the Polo is actually decent looking too

+1. Better spec too (climate control etc), nicer interior (on the Polo at least) and the option of 3 doors. The Ibiza FR is cheap now too, gotta be cheaper than a conversion (unless it's a DIY).

And then Luke will be rolling in the same car as every Tom, **** and Harry. And have to get re-trimmed better alloys coils strut/anti roll bars .... May the list go on. The idea of the Fabia is that it's different and gives an amazing surprise element so unsuspecting victims.

You must be crazy Luke! :p

I really cannot see how it would be easier to convert a vRS than an engine & brake change to an already petrol fabia....

If I was going to do this, I'd buy a cheapo petrol, drop it at Unit18 with an AGU engine and let Ally get it fitted & running - then look at the tuning options ;) Once at that point, I'd go there and spend a day or so swapping parts with your current vRS. That way, you'd maintain the use of your current car.

yes iti s in Czech and orange now look for ÄajíÄek 4x4 tdi

because a PD130 with a hybrid turbo is such a rare and unique car?? do people actually care that much about there car being "different"?

There Blue Smurf Fabia 1.8T I think is from Germany just by look of plates but is very taste. Look video from Youtube

It is actually, there's gotta be hundreds of them

I don't care how unique it is, I just want more power... and realistically the most I'm gunna get out of the PD130 is 340bhp at a push. I want more... So I think 1.8T is a good route to go down! Potentially cheaper too.

I'd imagine that many people are going to tell you to buy something with a 1.8T already in it to save you costs and ball ache, although i'd love to see a 1.8T fabia running big power in the UK...

If I was looking at 1.8Ts again, i'd love to have a play with a Polo GTI B)

How much do you think you'll get from a 1.8T though? On SCN I've personally only seen 1 which claimed much a lot than that, one guy reckoned he got 440bhp from an LCR. But it spent months and months at Backdraft Motorsport, cost him a ton, and IIRC he put it up for sale almost straight after it was "finished" due to "not having time for it" which just makes me think that it was unreliable and not what it claimed (but obviously you'd never say that when you're selling so the silly excuses come out).

Met the owner a couple of times at local meets and an RR day he was supposed to be coming to in it and tbh, he was a bit of an Indian wideboy from what I remember. Talked the talk and obviously had the cash to throw around, but never managed to back any of it up.

edit - and just out of interest since his license plate was visible in one of his pics I ran it through AskMID. It comes up as not on the database, which suggests it may have been broken for parts or scrapped, which again makes me think unreliability.
