LSD fitted

Featured Replies

So I got my LSD fitted (by Unit 18)

It's sooo nice, really pulls you around corners!

And allows this

I'd seriously recommend one. Can't wait to try it on track on Saturday (Castle Combe Action Day)

Nice, used to burn out back tyre on my bikes the day before new one fitted lol

Neighbours all came out to watch too lol, always had a giggle bout it :D

LSD is lovely aint it :)

Totally changes the way you exit corners.

Not so bright making lines like that in a residential area though ;)

Having two wheels spinning is very good. After a while you will begin to feel how hard it pulls when it WOULD have wheelspan before but now doesn't due to both wheels gripping hard, and not just spinning one wheel.

PS: as I found out, be careful the first time you pull out for an overtake under power. ;) I nearly hit the opposite side of the road the first time. :D

looking good there, a couple of mates have had LSD fitted to their cars and love them......oh and nice 11's

I was shocked at how good they are my megane has one a standard.

Not much more that's changeable on your fab is there dude?

Had an ek9 with an s80 box and lsd!! Class but be weary!!

400bhp 20v 1.8T :)

Yes you'll all laugh but where do lsd's do?

Forces both front wheels to try and spin together under power, rather than one spinning away all the power.

So you only get wheelspin when they are both overloaded. Before this you are able to put more power down than before.

Particularly handy coming out of corners as traditionally the inside wheel has less weight on it, allowing it to spin off all the power easily. With the LSD it doesn't spin as the outside wheel has a lot of weight on it. Result is you can launch out of corners like never before. B)

Thank you for educating me and my lack of knowledge :)

Open diff - look at all that air in there!

Closed diff! Lovely! ;)

400bhp 20v 1.8T :)

Is this really going to happen?? I know you said something about it in another thread or something???

You've spent a fair amount on this engine, why not keep going with it instead of starting again with a 1.8t which a remapped standard fabia can beat??

Someone on this forum will crack the 1.9tdi 300bhp one day, why not go for that?

Edit-never mind, just saw the 1.8t thread.

I had a moment in the wet doing that...eery feeling as the car just drifts across as both wheels spin :D

Hardly a fair comparison given the gains you'd get from remapping any 1.8T.

Take a remapped Fabia vRS with full TBE and put it up against a remapped Polo GTI (1.8T) with full TBE and it wouldn't even be close!

Hell, take a fully loaded hybrid Fabia and put it up against the same Polo and the Polo will still pull on the Fabia with relative ease.

Flamesuit on, but I've seen it and so have a couple of the more active members on here...

Yeah, but what mpg do they get? :giggle:

The thing is, Luke's probaly (Unsuspectingly) made the swap more easier, in the fact, yes he's spent a lot on the engine, but they are all bolt on mods!

If he went 1.8T, he could sell turbo, egr delete, downpipe, intercooler pipe work, easily, as it's all bolt on bolt off. He could keep intercooler, and backend of the exhaust.

I think it may be a new G/B and diff though for a 1.8t.

Ok fair enough, I'm just going by my mates Audi 1.8T (a lot heavier than a polo obviously)which has problems keeping up with me at the moment, but he is getting it mapped next week. It will probably transform the car.

I'd still rather see him work on more bhp on the pd130 than switch to petrol.

Look at CT17 (BossFox) beating RS Focus, TVR's etc in a diesel. Now that's impressive.

As you can see, I'm flying the flag for diesels, torque is more fun. :peek: :giggle:

Could keep the gearbox I think, but it'd be slower to accelerate than a petrol box. On the other hand, the gearbox would be geared for ~130 at the old diesel redline in 6th, imagine what you'd do with another 2000rpm on top? :p

I'm really surprised that a mapped polo would muller a hybrid Fabia! I have a mate with a mapped 1.8t Ibiza fr which has trouble keeping with me. It's not a lot in it but still enough for me to stay ahead.

The reason I like my Fabia is because I can drive like a **** and still return 40mpg! I like the drive with the shed load of torque and with my new exhaust it sounds tidy now too.

If however your making something to be almost unique and a bit of a sleeper, a 400+ bhp 1.8t Fabia is the way to go IMO. It'll cost a fortune it run no doubt, but it'd be a monster. If I had the time/money/space I'd love to do it.

Nope, but the gearbox will do about 220mph in 6th... Probably geared too high!

It's gunna happen, Ali at Unit 18 is confident so it's just money and time now. I'm saving up as we speak. :)

From a different angle...

If you were making a sleeper, a mkI or a mkII Fabia?

On such a big project that is not going to be cheap why use a mkI when the mkII is more of a bland shopping trolley, even if it is a good car. (yes, I do have one too!) And it's not going to be old so quickly too.

While I prefer the mkI and went the VRS route because I love the mkI VRS diesel combo, something like a mkII with the greenline badge on the back and a 1.8T under the bonnet... hmm... that could really spank those mkII VRS.

Which is lighter, a mkI petrol or a mkII petrol?

My friends dad has a "cuppachino" beige mk2 pd105. Iv often thought how much fun it'd be to put the turbo/intercooler from mine in it :D proper sleeper

I meant if you were starting from scratch.

But I can see which side of the fence you are on from the reply. :D And I was talking about a sleeper.
