AutoExpress tyre test confirms Mich PS3 as top tyre

Featured Replies

Tyre 225/45-17 The verdict

"..Goodyear is on to another winner with the Asymmetric 2, combining consistent performances across our tests to take victory in this key size. .. the Pilot Sport 3 just beat wet road champ Pirelli and fellow rain master Vredestein.

Ranking Tyre Overall score

1 Goodyear 100.0%

2 Michelin 99.6%

3 Pirelli 99.3%

4 Vredestein 99.2%

5 Nokian 98.4%

6 Continental 98.2%

7 Dunlop 98.0%

8 Bridgestone 97.3%

9 Apollo 97.0%

10 Hankook 96.5%"

To me the wet aquaplaning score on the Goodyear was so bad and wear was not taken in to account, the PS3 is still the tyre king for me.

Why test the uniroyal rainsport 1 when the rainsport 2 is a much better tyre and has come close to the top of these types of test in the past?

rainsport 2's all the way for me, relatively quiet, very good in the dry and superb in the wet, and not at all expensive if you shop around unlike some of the other top performers.

Am I missing something? Clearly am as UniRoyal is not in the test? Looked up the UniRoyal Rainsport 2 on tyrereview:

The UniRoyal RS2 does not get the great feedback from the indiviidual reviews that the PS3 does:

I do find the Conti CS2s work fine on my 1.9D -130 hp Octy1 but then the weight, characteristics seem to suit the Diesel Octy1, horses for courses.

Bridgestone RE050 and Dunlop Sport Maxx OE have been poor compared to PS3 in all areas I find.

Yes because the Uniroyals are no where near the PS3 in terms of overall quality based on tyre review....:dull:...oh wait 5%.

PS3 - £127

Uniroyal - £90

Good to see the Dunlop's are at the bottom. Awful tyre.

Big fan of the ContiSport 3's for the Estate. Carry 150+kg of kit in the boot and they havent let me down yet!
