Enabling both rear foglamps in Octavia II FL

Featured Replies

Sorry for dragging up an old topic...

I have recently purchased a new FL Octavia VRS Estate (delivery in July) and will be taking it to Germany with work. Is it now possible to activate both fogs or to switch fog from RHS to LHS using VCDS?

i'm in a similar situation to yourself my previous car (scout 1.8t FL) had its rear fog light changed at a local stealers at a cost of 70 euros!!!! My current car (VRS Diesel) i got a mate to wire up from one fog light to another - which worked and powered up both lights but did give me an error code, however the car did pass the roadworthy inspection. I have another diesel on order (sept) and i'm interested like yourself if there's any easier option to switching the fogs over...

Regards

My wife has a Golf V too and I already have the continental lights at home - like you I have previously paid for the dealer to swap. However, if this change is possible then I will look to purchase VCDS plus cable (140 euros for both cars initially plus any future changes of car means that the sums are adding up towards VCDS option).

If the dealer can do it then it must be possible using VDCS, however I assume this is turning one side off and the other side on.

Rather than doing this everytime it would make much more sense just to enable both to come on together.

Clearly if it possible to swap from one side to the other the change is simply with the coding, everything else is in place which also hints to the fact that it should be possible to activate both rear fogs using VDCS

We need a scan from a car that's been changed or is LHD.

I'm convinced its a country coding setting, so perhaps there is one that requires cars to have both fogs?

Has anyone tried to change via vcds if the car is left or right hand drive

maybe just maybe changing this option it will also change the rear fog light !!!

Guys, indeed the comment that the fog needs to be on the offside is correct...i.e UK RHD on the right, Europe LHD on the Left.

The regulation allows for either 1 or 2 lamps without a reduction of intensity to be made..the driving of the vehicle abroad issue is an interesting discussion...I guess it would depend on which policeman stops you in france!!

Having worked for several OEMs im amazed that Skoda have designed the rear clusters with a P21W dual lit bulb but do not 'give away' the twin fog feature...I personally would think that if both lamps were lit, complexity would be reduced and it would be another item for them not to muck up on the production line!

This has been done on the mk3.

May also work on the mk2?
