Alarmed new Octavia Owner!

Featured Replies

I am a new Octavia owner and I need you knowledgable people to stop me panicking. I picked up my first Skoda (54 plate Octavia vRS) on friday and I have been loving it.

This morning when I started her up there was a loud 'fan type noise' coming from under the bonnet. After about thirty seconds it wound down and stopped. The air con was off etc. What was causing this noise, I am hoping and assuming it is normal?

Help me Briskoda you're my only hope.

Sounds like its your secondary air pump, sometimes the rivots fail & the pump get noisey. If you do a search there will be a guide to replace the broken rivots with bolts. If its not to noisey & goes off after 30 sec's then its normal & nothing to worry about!.

Totally normal as per above

Thanks very much. Since getting it I keep hearing things, think my mind is playing tricks on me!

I also have a rattle coming from inside the driver door, the bass from the stereo is making something vibrate in the door. The loose whatever it is is audible when I shut the door as well. Hopefully it is a loose bolt or something, will take door card off on weekend. Anyone else had this?

I would check the window guides are secure, does the rattle stop/reduce if the window is lowered?

Found the rattle, One of the allen bolts that holds the window motor in place was loose and out of its recess!

Easy fix =o)
