Drivers Door Trim Bubbling........

Featured Replies

I have a bad habit of driving with my arm on the top of the door trim and I've put a dent on the top of the trim and the rubber like covering has started to bubble. It's about the size of a two pence piece caused by my elbow

Any way I can shrink it down and remove the little dent in the foam underneath or do I replace the trim

Your thoughts please

heard this on here before, consensus was the only cure was to replace the door card, although I would try a hairdryer and see how that goes?

Simbo has a hole in his doorcard in just that position Andy!!

Anyone any Idea how much this is to replace? Anyone have one, the top bit above the Aluminium strip on the drivers door, standard Vrs colour?

Or is it One complete door card?

complete door card, probably about 150 to buy one.

I assume it's all on piece then?

yes, 'complete' if you like.

Thanks for that Tech1e

My old blue VRs did the same, didn't break through but was pretty bad after 3 year (sold it back to the dealer after PCP expired).

and after you put your new door card on Andy put your arm in a sling to stop you doing it again! :giggle:

For £150, you might well get a retrimmer to redo all 4 doors with suede and

sort out the foam below?

It had happened to the 4yr-old car I bought too, dealer replaced it before I collected it though.

I can't understand how people put their arm up there comfortably, my elbow always rests on the designed arm rest part of the door card below, where the elec window buttons are. Do you guys have your seats up really high?

Simeons( Simbo) is worn COMPLETELY through on the door card armrest :S

His has done around 170k though hasn't it? Fair to expect some wear and tear :)

He goes on his laptop each day in his lunch hour, he pushes his seat all the way back and rests his arms, so yes fair wear, I was just pointing out to Chris that Simeons is not high up

Mine is starting to show very early signs, do try not to lean on it :dull:

Me either :giggle: :giggle: just doesn't feel comfortable all the way up there so i do like you too

PS my seat is all the way down, and i would go more if it could

I have my seat in the lowest position (tallish torso). Feels like my shoulder is being dislocated if I tried to rest my elbow!

Weird/weak design I think. During looking for Octy's I came across 50% with this dent/bubble in that area. Mileage was all well under 100k.

As others, I just can't get mine up that far....elbow that is.

One dealer suggested filling it with silicone or something...or superglue :o

Yep, think it's just the fact that the area underneath isn't reinforced with anything. Bit of a design flaw really.

Thankfully mine on 80-odd is still OK. I wasn't aware of the issue until I saw the same thing on another thread a few weeks ago.

I'm assuming that during the Octavia's testing non of the test drivers rested their elbow that high :giggle:
