what made you buy a skoda?

Inverted snobbery, given added poignancy by the 1.4 16V badge on the rear.

Price to buy, price to insure and price to run :D Oh, and the heated seats and climate control ;)

Chris

I read about the Octy RS in some car mag. I called into the Skoda dealer to test drive it (no intention of buying it of course). I took the test drive, and had placed an order for one within a week.

I am just about to change it for another Octy RS....

arrogant, unhelpful and positively obstructive Seat salesman.

I had the money, and I really wanted a Seat Ibiza 1.4 with A/C.

He wouldn't let me take one for a drive, wouldn't give me a any sort of deal, didn't even want to tell me the price.....

So i drove over the the Skoda dealers, and found a more powerful car, with more kit and a salesman and service bloke who bent over to help me for almost four years.........

I didnt want another French piece of tosh breaking down. So it was VW's build quality that did it for me.

Good sense!! More kit than a GT TDI Golf, for

Bit of inverse snobbery for me too plus the silver octy vRS just looked stunning too.Could have bought another audi or jag or merc or BMW.In fact so could everyone on the site if they had wanted!( low mileage x type is the same price as a furby).Dealer was a joy.Never had a good dealer in VW,Rover,Vauxhall,Audi(some people think they are the royal family :finger: ) .Was a breath of fresh air with skoda :D

The whole country secretly wants one  .I just thought why am I skirting around buying what is currently one of the best makes of car? so I bought one.well, three since we first chose skoda!

It all started when i was a salesman for Skoda and i said to the the other lads at the time that i would get one one day. And sure enough 4 years later i placed my order. I love the look of the Fabia RS, i know the engine well and in addition i love causing offence with what i drive. I love the fact that it is cheaper all round than the equivalent POLO but as respected and understated.

fast, cheap, the looks, the interior, the boot space, the spec, bulid quality, modding potencial, unusual, its black, practical (5dr) , it goes wwwwhhhoooossss pppppsssshhhhttt :D ,

Thats it really

what made you buy a skoda?

When looking for my 1st car I wouldn't even dream of a Skoda until the wife persuaded me just to go and look I thought they were c**p. Within 1/2 Hour I'd bought a 1.3 Felicia Paciffic Kept that for a year then got a Octavia 1.4 Traded that in for a Silver vRS got rid of that for a Volvo S80 2.4 SE auto Soon got rid due to low MPG and went to a Black Octavia L&K Estate but I needed more grunt so now I have a Furbie vRS...... The're not all that bad are they

The drive / MPG / build / and the price

Furby VRS

A brochure.... ;) I paid a deposit, reserved my car, etc, all on the strength of a couple of brochures and write-ups in Top Gear. Was enough for me, and I never regret it ever!

as it was as far away from the Saxo, fiesta brigade as you could get, but still being a decent (well better) car.

My brother test drove one, he couldn't afford it in the end, but told me to try it, i drove it, and then bought it on the spot. 6 months later i still love it :)

couldn't afford an S4 so i got the 4x4 turbo estate. still want an S4 though. don't regretuying the skoda as i really like it, just want to move on to bigger and better things in the future

I had a similar thing with the furby. Total ****** of a salesman who even told me the engine was dodgy on the skud even though it's the same as the Ibiza.

With the octy we looked at a focus, 307 sw and a mazda 6. We decided on the octy 130pd so went for a look and jools saw the octy vrs. Out came the switch card and that was that.

Went to look at a Demo SEAT Leon and the greasy sleazy saleman couldn't have been more unhelpful if he'd been Osama himself.

Tried to explain that I was also going to look at the octy and his response was "Yes, but their engines are what we class as seconds and wouldn't fit them in our cars"

Can I test drive the Leon: "No, because its an ex demo we want to keep the miles low"

Went to Skoda: test drove the original MK1 Octy and bought the facelifted model straight away!!!

What a fantastic car...and it makes me smile when passers-by remark on the similarity to the BMW :rofl::rofl:

That's the same phrase I got.

Must be a Seat training program.

I bought it as it has a good spec, build and was affordable. The fact it's nice and fast is a bonus. Must admit the recent Fab vRS adverts are seriously p*ssing me off though. They should cut those!

Cheap as chips and a great spec.

Oh yeah its bright :)

I read quite a few reviews on the net about the octy vrs ,and there was not a bad word said about the car, when i saw a pic of one on the net it was love at first sight.

For me nothing came close to offering the mix of performance/build and cheaper running costs.

I was already a diesel convert before and wanted a golf tdi but couldnt justify price. bought a furby tdi and then the vrs.

Quite like the inverse snobery aspect too. :)

For me, it was because I liked the look of the Octavia vRS, but couldnt really justify the size / running costs. I was going to get an ibiza TDI Sport, but then I saw the Fabia vRS... here was a car with a "baby" Octavia vRS style, but with the same chassis and engine as the TDI Sport. Perfect! :D

However, I still gave the Ibiza a chance, but was turned off when the salesman slagged the Skoda off, saying it was "nowhere near as good quality", and that it [the ibiza] was "clearly worth the

For me:

Performance, economy, quality, dealer, inverted snobbery, equipment, value, image.

Haven't regretted it at all.
