Just sold my juke after only 3 months for a yeti

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm new to the forum, as the title says I bought a Nissan juke acenta premium only 3 months ago and I've now traded in for a yeti 2.0 diesel SE.

I wish I had looked at the yeti before buying the juke. Don't get me wrong I did like the juke to look at and it was quite quick BUT, the things that went wrong with it were unbelievable in 3 months to start with the carpets in the footwell were short, the fuel consumption was way out at 21mpg average (and I'm not joking) the buttons were falling off the plastic on the door was that cheap it cracked, the hand brake failed on many an occasion so I always had to leave it in gear.

I eventually hot most of this fixed but I couldn't take all the messing around and the stress it was putting me through, so I bit the bullet and traded in for a yeti, I can't wait I pick it up on Friday I was really lucky some one had preordered their car and then decided they were moving abroad so they lost their deposit and I jumped into an early yeti deal (no 6 month wait) wooo!

Anyway as you can tell I'm excited, when I test drove it I just thought it was the exact opposite to the juke in every way, it felt quality and good to drive. With loads of room, the boot in the juke is the most pathetic thing you will ever see they had put partitions all over it so you couldn't use it as an actual boot.

Anyway I hope to speak to you all soon.

Sorry for the rant about Nissan but I now hate them!

Welcome to the forum.

I hope your Yeti ownership is much more pleasurable. B)

Welcome to the forum. I actually quite like the Juke, funky looking thing, but the boot is too small. I am sure you will enjoy the Yeti, and the Yeti drives and handle well!

A very wise move if I may say so

Welcome to the Forum :)

Croeso.

I was looking at a Joke parked outside the house the other day. Couple and one child have rented the holiday cottage opposite and they needed a roof box to get all their stuff in, and it wasn't a lot!!

Why did you not reject the Juke??

Welcome Dinski, Yeti ownership is WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't you know, they're recommended by Emmerdale, Eastenders AND Top Gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

If anyone want's to see the bit on the Yeti on Top gear please contact me and I'll happily send it to you

You will find the same things posted about the Yeti on this very forum in the first six months of its life - ie Sept 2009 to around middle 2010. You will even find threads on a few people having rejected their Yetis as total and utter lemons. That is just par of the course when a factory starts to produce something brand new with so many different tight fitting parts. I will never buy a car within the first year of it coming out for this very reason. I'm sure in a year's time you can go to a Nissan dealer and do a test drive in a Puke and you will be amazed at what a good quality product it has become...

So your poor little Puke was at a disadvantage being an early one. But even if it had been a sorted one you have now opted for the better car. Well the best car in the segment bar none in fact. Even Clarkson says so! Enjoy the beastie!

I looked at a Juke as I liked the appearance and was surprised at how stupidly they are packaged-interior room and luggage both inadequate. I found the driving area unduly cramped (I'm 5'8" and 12 stone)and my 13 year old daughter and I both thought it too small for the two of us for an only car. I didn't bother driving it and would be horrified at the sort of consumption you achieved. As to the quality issues I'm sure there is much in what Johann says -Nissan ordinarily produce cars which are serviceable and will no doubt get there.

I hope you enjoy your Yeti as much as I do. A fine and well put together machine.

The Puke does the same trick the Yeti does: it looks bigger than it actually is. Don't forget the Yeti is a Golf and the Puke is in fact a Micra on stilts. So it is based on a car from the class below - size wise anyway. So the boot and interior volume should be compared to the Peugeot 207, the Polo and Fabia and not with something like a Yeti or Golf.

Hi guys, thanks for the replys.

I've just been on the phone to Harratts Nissan in Wakefield where I bought the car, I purchased a 3 year service plan from them and they are now saying that they have no evidence and no service package for me has ever existed.

I forgot to mention how bad the dealership has been as well.

I've just spike to Nissan customer services and they are going to sort it from here because luckily I have found a receipt that says i purchased it.

I was going to call the dealer back to rub it in their face but thought, no I'll wait till the weekend and go in and see them.

Avoid Harratts at all costs their after sales and people skills need a lot of work.

I'm so glad after the weekend I won't ever have to deal with them ever again. And I would never buy another Nissan. Ever!

I'm sure you are all right about the yeti, it's seems a great car, and I guess anything that comes from VW should come with that piece of mind that you are buying quality.

Although all this I've been reading on here about the DPF has me worried a bit.

Is the 2.0 diesel engines not the same as a golf then? Did they make these engines for the yeti only? One of the reasons I went for the yeti is because I assumed that the engine was from a VW so was tried and tested.

Good to hear from you all and thanks for your input

The Yeti engine is the generic VAG engine, so well proved.

Don't worry about the DPF. There are lots of scare stories about them, but to be honest that is the fault of the internet. People who have problems post; people who don't, don't. Guess which is the majority?

My Yeti (once returned) has done over 24k and I think it has regenerated about 4 times.

Most all the new VAG engines have a DPF or will in the near future to meat emissions legislation. So the Golf has it too. Don't worry about it is what most people say if you do a search on here for DPF. And remember the posts on here are normally about things going wrong. So for the 10 moans about a DPF on the internet there are thousands of people out there that have had no problems. It is just human not to sing praises but to rather moan!

EDIT: posted at the same time and only a minute apart from Llanigraham and we both said near exactly the same thing! :giggle:

Thanks you 2. And I know your right but after my bad luck with the juke I can't help but feel something will go wrong with my yeti.

Without sounding stupid what's VAG?

Thanks again.

VAG = VW Audi Group

Includes; VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini :)

Arguements will start, but I understand it as

Volkswagen

Audi

Group

In Germany a corporation has AG at the end of its name, like Plc in the UK or Inc in the USA. It stands for Aktiengesellschaft. The V stands for Volkswagen. VAG is the former name of the Volkswagen group but is still being used on forums like this to refer to the whole VW empire. But it could also mean Volkswagen Audi Group. Which comes to the same thing! :giggle:

Ah, that makes more sense, thanks :)

Don't forget a big chunk of Suzuki and nearly all of Porsche (or is It Porsche that owns VAG....?)

Ah yes, forgot Porsche and Suzuki. Suzuki wants out though, seems they aren't getting what they expected from the deal.

Of course the senior partner of the Group is;

;)

I have another silly question guys, I've seen pics of yeti's back seats and I think I saw heaters (fans) in the back armrest? Is this on all models? I didn't even look in the back of the one I bought.

Thanks.

sounds like you have seen the cup holders in the back of the elegance arm rest. Can't say I have seen any with fans!

I think not fans but 'vents'. I assume part of the armrest (SE and Elegance?). I like them - lets the aircon keep the little ones back there even cooler.

Do you mean the air vents in the back of the centre armrest between the front seats?
